Oops, sorry we cause all those riots

Why is no one talking about the fact that the reason Newsweek ran the story is because they were given the "details" by someone in the Pentagon!!!!!!!!!
I think the point can be taken further:

There's a lot of b*tching from the Bush "administration" about how the source was an unnamned source. The Bush gang, however, has a track record of cruelty against those who speak in their own names and say something--even if true--that makes Bush look bad. As a result, sources are forced to be anonymous, lest they receive retaliation from the Bush gang. In addition, Bush and his people have had serious difficulty telling the truth, especially (but not exclusively) pertaining to international affairs. Accordingly, the media's reliance upon unnamed sources has been effectively forced by the Bush "administration."

In addition, the hallmark of the Bush "administration" has been its steadfast refusal to accept responsibility for any of its actions, if doing so would make Bush look bad.

Further, it is worth noting that, according to CNN, the Red Cross has collected several reports about U.S. personnel at the Guantanamo Bay naval base disrespecting the Quran. The Red Cross says it deems the reports "credible" and brought the issue up with the Pentagon "several times" prior to the Newsweek report.

So there's a lot of fingers pointing at Newsweek, but it seems to me that the buck really stops with the military and the commanders, specifically including the commander-in-chief.

Sadly, with this Administration the buck never stops. They never take responsibility for anything (Bush has publicly---in so many words---delared himself infallible) and the majority of Americans seems to prefer it that way. I guess they like to think "Daddy" is perfect and always looking out for them.

It is very scary.

Maybe the notion that one would get angry at all about the desecration of an inanimate object make them uncivilized? Or extremist?

Would you care also to qualify your use of the word "jihad?" To me, at least, it seems like a little racist dig. An oversight, perhaps?

Yeah, but if Muslims weren't so freaking' fanatical, none of this would have happened anyway. Something tells me that flushing a bible down the toilet wouldn't start riots among the Pentecostals, might get some folk yelling from the pulpit complaining about it, but that's about the worst that would happen.

What is it about Islam that allows people to so easily fall into fanaticism? I've met some kind Muslims, so I’m not downing the religion as a whole, but Islam seems to have the most fanatics out of the bunch. Fanatic Christians bomb abortion clinics (and rarely, at that), Fanatic Muslims bomb busses and airliners (Usually killing themselves in the process, and it's totally common). Sure, there's the whole Ireland thing that was going on back when, but that had as much to do with politics as it did religion.

Holy crap talk about hypocrisy. This entire affair shows the duality of fanatical muslims and the offensiveness of pussy-whipped liberals. Oh, gee Zenith how dare our people desecrate a Koran " it seems to me that the buck really stops with the military and the commanders, specifically including the commander-in-chief."

Screw the fanatics, they can go to hell for all I care. They are not going to influence me by rioting and destroying property. Nor are they going to dictate to me what is offensive to Islam and what is not.

Why?

They'll riot and murder each other over a story from a "great satan" weekly newsmagazine regarding an article about a book 10,000 miles that may or may not have been put on, near or in a toilet, but they will not lift a finger when their brothers blow up third-century Buddhas or ransack a mosque or assault the Egyptian Foreign Minister in the 2nd holiest shine in Islam or when their gunmen storm one of Christianity's most sacred shrines, the Church of the Nativity.

So this entire 'outrage' thing is fake and hypocritical, the whole "insult to Islam" line is engineered and the riots/demonstrations are staged. It is only liberals who play into their game of intimidation by wringing their hands and saying "gosh, how can we ever repair our image with these folks"...

Newsweek is highly organized, versatile and sophisticated. It assults us from every angle with its propaganda, and creates an almost impregnable environment of judgmental gossip and unspoken agreement with the status quo all around us. The more we try to escape, the more we seem to fall into the traps Newsweek is so ingenious at setting for us... we are like people crawling through an endless desert, dying of thirst. And all that Newsweek holds out to us is a cup of salt water.
