During Anderson Cooper's interview with Obama on July 13 (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ar...rson_cooper_interview_barack_obama_97446.html ), Obama made the following statement:

COOPER: On the economy, Joseph Biden the other day, Vice President Biden, said that -- that you misread the economy. You have said: "No, no, no. We had incomplete information." And, nevertheless, you said that you would not have done anything differently. How -- that seems contradictory. How can you say that? If you had known that unemployment was going to 9.5 percent, would you -- wouldn't you have asked for more money in the stimulus?

OBAMA: It is not contradictory. Keep in mind that we got an $800 billion stimulus package, by far the largest stimulus package ever approved by a United States Congress. And the stimulus package is working exactly as we had anticipated.

Obama is a baldfaced LIAR. In selling the stimulus package, Obama and his cohorts assured Congress and the public that without the stimulus package, unemployment would hit 9%, but with the stimulus package it would only hit a high of 8%. So he knows damn well that with employment already over 9.5% and on it's way to 11%, the stimulus package has NOT worked "exactly" as they "anticipated" (unless they secretly anticipated exactly what has happened). He either lied to Cooper during that interview or he lied to Congress and the American people back when he was trying to sell his porkulus package. Like I've demonstrated before, Obama is a liar.

Furthermore, notice that Obama is demonstrating once again his STUCK ON STUPID syndrome. This time he apparently said that even knowing what we know now about the economy, he wouldn't have done anything different.

When are you so-called skeptics going to wake up to this shyster and liar?

yes, and yes.

Well honestly, he's smart and just really misinformed - like most of America.

Then again, the American media once told us that we'd have more earthquakes because of global warming...

And the stimulus package is working exactly as we had anticipated.

As in, not at all, because we actually were bailing out our friends and donors, we just lied and said it would actually help you...we just kinda hoped the economy would recover quicker and you wouldnt ask any questions

Presumably what Obama anticipated that the stimulus package would do was stimulate the economy. And presumably he thinks that it has.

So he knows damn well that with employment already over 9.5% and on it's way to 11%....

11%! Well that's higher than the unemployment rate during the 1981-1982 recession. Obama was right, this is the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

No, don't you remember, BAC's explained to us that Obama was lying about that. And now he's lying about ... er ... something else. Doubtless BAC will get back to us when he's figured out what.

And hell be sure to throw in lots and lots of smilies to show how much better he is than the rest of us!

Since Obama was saying back then that without the stimulus package unemployment would rise to a peak of 9% (less than the 81-82 recession), how do you explain his claiming back then that this recession was worse than the 81-82 recession? He was LYING back then, wasn't he? :D

When are you folks going to admit the truth?

That Obama is a serial liar. And that he's playing you for fools.

Disregard that. My information was a tad outdated. Turns out the beginning of the third quarter was some time ago.

I've known that all along...

BaC, this time you're claiming that Obama lied because his prediction about where unemployment would top out was wrong? (He admitted he was wrong, BTW.)

So believe Obama is clairvoyant? Otherwise, it's not possible to construe a failed prediction as a lie.

That Obama is a serial liar.
Well duh, he's a politician, and from the Chicago political environment. The shock would be if he were not.
And that he's playing you for fools.
Right, but part of that was his good luck on timing. Anybody not GOP wins in 2008.

BAC, I think you are missing a key element of what is wrong with Obama at present. He has an enabling behavior Congress to deal with, rather than one which will challenge him seriously. (He has it better off than Bush did, what with Franken's getting that seat.)

Given his inexperience at executive level and national, he is bound to come up with some bad ideas, and rather than be brought up short, by Congress, he's not being challenged sufficiently to avoid errors that may bite him, and all of us, in the butt in the mid and long term. I get a spooky feeling about his SoF and Escalatio deal in Afghanistan. Maybe Gates will do well with his strategies, maybe not. Obama is accountable, regardless.

Bush had a similar scenario play out, at the fiscal level. He, had enough House and Senate enabling to make foolish fiscal choices and policies -- my usual gripe about his wanting to have a tax cut and a war and pass of the cost to my kidsd comes up here -- and succeeded in undoing the previous austerity driven by the 1994 based challenge to Clinton's White House that got a grip on budget and deficit issues.

Obama has taken the baton from Bush, and is running with it, IMO not realizing which direction he's headed in. It is my worry that his biggest problem is that he's lying to himself, and calling it Hope.

No, Joe, I'm calling Obama a liar because he said the stimulus has done exactly what they (in the administration) anticipated. But their anticipation was that with the stimulus, we'd see unemployment rise to only 8%. Obviously it did not do what they "anticipated" so for Obama to claim it did now is a LIE. And even Anderson Cooper (who is to somewhat to the left) seemed puzzled by that obvious inconsistency.

Oh I understand that. He also has an enabling mainstream media. That's why he is particularly dangerous.

Given his inexperience at executive level and national, he is bound to come up with some bad ideas,

Bad ideas are one thing. LYING to promote social agendas is another. And saying things like "knowing what we know now, I still wouldn't have changed a thing", where the surge in Iraq and the stimulus package is concerned shows a certain stupidity.

I thought this guy was supposed to be extraordinarily smart. Assuming he is, I can only assume he is playing the public and many of his supporters for fools. You have to admit his tactic of throwing out trillion dollar social legislation on a dozen fronts and forcing it through Congress without members being able to review and debate it, while assuring the public he's going to be different, reduce the deficit and give not sign any legislation that Congress hasn't thoroughly debated and reviewed, is cynically shrewd.

It's worrisome that the Obama administration is doing exactly what Cloward and Piven recommended socialists/communists do to turn this country into a socialist state. Remember back in 1966 when two Columbia University professors, Richard Andrew Cloward and Fraces Fox Piven, wrote an article for The Nation? They laid out a plan, now known as the Cloward-Piven Strategy, for destroying capitalism in America by swelling the welfare rolls to the point of collapsing our economy and then implementing socialism. The authors cited Chicago's Saul Alinksy as their inspiration. It is widely recognized that Saul Alinksy's teachings influenced Obama in his work as a community organizer (e.g., http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/24/AR2007032401152.html ). He also linked up and worked with folks who were strong advocates of the Cloward-Piven strategy and even taught Alinsky's methods to still others. Cloward and Piven in the late 60's recruited a militant black named George Wiley to lead their movement and Wiley then founded the National Welfare Rights Organization (NWRO). The 1980s "voting rights movement" that Obama supported, was spearheaded by three organizations: ACORN, Project Vote and Human SERVE. All three organizations were led by veterans of NWRO. And Human SERVE was even founded by Cloward and Piven, along with a NWRO organizer named Hulbert James.

So perhaps Obama isn't stuck on stupid but cleverly dangerous?

Obama is accountable, regardless.

Only if the media makes him accountable.

Obama has taken the baton from Bush, and is running with it, IMO not realizing which direction he's headed in.

Well I actually hope he doesn't, because the possibility that he might know is truly sobering.
