OMG: Two young people to get married

The problem is: you don't know who will be your head of state. it is decided by pure chance.

Belgium has a scumbag.
Sweden has a sex-maniac (OK, entertainment value).
Holland is about to get a mediocre bore.
France has a guy with no head.

Yeah, but at least Denmark is getting a Dude who han the good sense to marry a HOT AUSSIE!!

If I were you I'd pitch my tent elsewhere. Westminster Cathedral, apart from being a Roman Catholic church, isn't really on the route to either Westminster Abbey or Saint Paul's.

Groan! Can I sell it to a Yank?

I thought Brits had senses of humor. Oh well. I don't think I've ever seen someone get insulted when someone criticizes their "form of government." How dare you say the Senate is broken!!! Nope, still weird.

It should also be noted that "valid" and "silly" are not mutually exclusive concepts.

And why would it be superior to fund a completely useless figurehead that serves no purpose save for maintaining a vile social hierarchy?

Britain's government would immediately improve by eliminating royals and the House of Lords.
Why shouldn't Brits have a sense of humour? But you can't prove or disprove it by my post, because I'm American. I wasn't criticizing their form of government, I was admiring it. Also, I explained why I think a King or Queen would be valuable in a country with such divisive politics - it provides a symbol for the whole country, regardless of which party you support. Something we are sorely lacking right now.

ETA: I also think it's nobody's business but their own how a country decides to be governed.

I would think that you Brits would appreciate a break from the ongoing micro-analysis of Posh and Becks in L.A. :p

Now that's funny.

His remarks were uncalled for to say the least.

They're not particularly different from what a lot of other people have said, and have been twisted slightly by the Mail, but of course it is never a good idea to say bad things in public about your likely future employer, nor were they well-timed.
