Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry has vetoed a bill sponsored by America's homophobe Sally Kern that would have provided Special Rights™ to students suffering from religious delusions to say or submit any type of speech without restriction so long as they claimed it was based on the alleged policies of an Imaginary Bearded Sky Daddy. Meanwhile students not claiming to speak for any religion would remain restricted from engaging in hate speech.

Mrs Kern, the wife of a Baptist minister, rose to national fame when a speech she made to Party of Jesus voters was secretly recorded and posted on YouTube. In the recording she identified Ho Mo Sexuals as a greater threat to the United States of America than terr'ists. While it is clear that Representative Kern is as sane as bat guano, it is important to note that she has many supporters among the Okies of Oklahoma.

Governor Brad Henry bitch slapped the legislation, citing his expectation that it would produce large numbers of lawsuits.

The bill state that "students may express their beliefs about religion in homework, artwork and other written and oral assignments free from discrimination based on the religious content of their submissions. Homework and classroom assignments shall be judged by ordinary academic standards of substance and relevance and against other legitimate pedagogical concerns identified by the school district. Students shall not be penalized or rewarded on account of the religious content of their work."

For the sake of the sane people in Oklahoma, let's hope that Sally Kern never runs for Governor. Because of her eagerness to heap condemnation and vitriol on the citizens of Oklahoma who happen to be gay or lesbian, she certainly has huge appeal to Fundamentalist Christians.

Jesus thinks she's a jerk.

Wait, so if the student's religious beliefs included the belief that there is no God, there would also be no problem? Or that Allah is the only God? Or that God exists in all living things and we need to pray to trees?

Did she think this through?

I had lost track of this attempted bill.

HUGE sigh of relief that this was trash-canned. As a native of Oklahoma, I am, for once in my life, proud of something we did in regard to religion.

Sally Kern should join the circus.
