In a recent interview Obama told a reporter that at the end of his term in office he and his family would continue to live in Washington DC for at least another two years so that his youngest daughter can finish the remainder of her primary education at the same school.

It's a reasonable thing to do as a parent and should be held up as a positive family decision.

Not in Wingnut America though. There it's just another evil plot by Obama to retain the reigns of power beyond the end of his presidency.

Will President Obama be treated as if he’s still running America even after his term expires?
The answer is a guaranteed yes, according to Rush Limbaugh, the nation’s most-listened-to radio broadcaster…
“But Obama says he is going to stay in Washington. Can you guess why that might be?”
Limbaugh speculated Obama wants to “stay in town to make sure that whatever he accomplishes is not unwound.”
As an example, Limbaugh said if a Republican is elected in 2016 and says certain aspects of Obamacare were sought to be dismantled, “Obama is going to call the media, and he’s going to go on TV as though he’s still president, and the media will treat him that way.
“He is going to stay there to make sure that whatever he’s done to remake this country is not changed, is not unwound,” Limbaugh added…
Limbaugh warned his audience to “prepare” for this eventuality, which will pose a particular challenge on the new president, no matter what party he or she belongs to.
“Do not doubt me on this,” Limbaugh concluded. “I know these people. I know how they think. … [Obama will] have a satellite administration in exile.”

Obama is not treated as if he is running America now.

Is there any law preventing expresidants from running for senate or house office?

In fact, after appointing six judges to the Supreme Court, President Taft went on to become a Supreme Court justice himself.

There's a thought that would bunch every Tea Party panty in existence.

Nitpick: Taft actually became Chief Justice, which was an office he often said he'd rather hold than the Presidency.

Also, John Quincy Adams was elected to Congress eight times after his term as President, and Andrew Johnson was elected to the Senate after his Presidency but died only a few months into his term.

... Andrew Johnson was elected to the Senate after his Presidency but died only a few months into his term.

Really? I find that pretty darn incredible. That man got ran through the political wringer during his presidency (granted, much of it was his own fault.)

To find that after his attempt at Reconstruction and almost getting impeached (by like one vote,) he was still able to have a political career is amazing (but not nearly as amazing as Randi. :D)

Apparently he can't call the media from outside D.C.

As opposed to John McCain, who was treated as though he was the President even though he never was?

Nitpick, but Johnson was impeached, just as Bill Clinton was. Impeachment is the vote in the House of Representatives to send the case to the Senate for trial.

Well... Hillary is going to be POTUS and she's a white lady with a big back porch...

Obama can't be got rid of until every last one of his Horcruxes have been destroyed!

Also true for Darth Cheney. The Cheney/Rumsfeld administration salted the gov't with middle level management appointments (no Congressional approval required jobs) in nearly every agency.

Yeah, and I wonder how many of those are the cause of Obama-embarrassments.

Yes, impeach has different meanings:
To be put on trial
To be kicked out of office because you were found guilty in said trial.

So, Both Johnson and Clinton were impeached by the first definition, but not the second.

John Quincy Adams served in the House of Representatives for many years after he was president. On a side note, it's been a long time since anyone in his caliber was in the White House.

Obama's been pretty good about respecting the customs regarding the Presidency. I imagine that he'll do what he can to stay out of the public eye for the immediate 4 years after his term is over - just like Bush, Clinton and W.
