Maybe if you come up with a new schtick for your thread titles I might be inclined to address your OP.
EDITORIAL: Obama's 17% unemployment rate
That's what we got for almost a trillion in stimulus spending
The president is full of it when he talks about creating or saving jobs. During his State of the Union address Wednesday night, he said, "Now, because of the steps we took, there are about 2 million Americans working right now who would otherwise be unemployed. ... Economists on the left and the right say this bill has helped save jobs and avert disaster. ... That is why jobs must be our No. 1 focus in 2010, and that's why I'm calling for a new jobs bill tonight." This is pure fiction. Job losses under President Obama's watch have increased steadily without remission.
The unemployment rate is stuck at 10 percent. If calculations include Americans who aren't in the labor force because they stopped looking for work or were forced to take part-time jobs, the unemployment rate has been above 17 percent since September. The Obama administration promised that the incredibly costly stimulus package would keep unemployment down to 8.1 percent, but the result of so much spending has been more job losses - and Americans are angry.
Here is a chart that shows job losses for all recessions post WWII.
Yet, here you are posting on the thread with nothing to say in defense of Obama against the facts I noted. So who is the clown?![]()
How about you bring some real thought to this process?
New York University Professor Nouriel Roubini, who anticipated the financial crisis, called the fourth quarter surge in U.S. economic growth “very dismal and poor” because it relied on temporary factors.
Roubini said more than half of the 5.7 percent expansion reported yesterday by the government was related to a replenishing of inventories and that consumption depended on monetary and fiscal stimulus. As these forces ebb, growth will slow to just 1.5 percent in the second half of 2010, he said.
“The headline number will look large and big, but actually when you dissect it, it’s very dismal and poor,” Roubini told Bloomberg Television in an interview at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. “I think we are in trouble.”
Deficit of Trust: Most Voters Don’t Believe President’s Assertions About Economy
… snip ...
On the question of cutting taxes for 95% of Americans, hardly any Republicans or unaffiliated voters believe it's true. However, Democrats are evenly divided: 34% say the tax cuts have been delivered, 29% say they haven’t, and 38% are not sure.
Sixty-three percent (63%) of Democrats agree with the president’s statement that the economy is growing again. Seventy percent (70%) of Republicans and 60% of unaffiliated voters disagree.
As for the claim about two million jobs, 46% of Democrats say it’s true, while 77% of Republicans say it’s not. As for those not affiliated with either major party, 24% say it’s true, and 59% say it’s false.
Regarding another initiative detailed in the speech on Wednesday night, just nine percent (9%) of voters believe the president’s proposed freeze on discretionary spending will have a big impact on the deficit.
So lefty, will you admit that Obama lied when he claimed he inherited an 8 trillion dollar 10 year projected debt?
The right and the left is starting to remind me of theism/atheism. Mostly the same liars with different flavors of lies. When you blur your eyes a bit, its mostly old white men with ties, living incredibly similar lifestyles in a similar cultural setting.
