Obama's SOTU: Stuck On Stupid Lies

Interesting. It seems none of the *skeptics* at JREF want to discuss the actual content of Obama's SOTU speech. Telling. :D

I can't get beyond the fact that, despite "stuck on stupid" jumping the shark before Gen. Honore had left NO, you still think it's fresh and clever. Maybe if you come up with a new schtick for your thread titles I might be inclined to address your OP.

Call me highly skeptical. I can't even get one of you to admit that Obama lied when he claimed he inherited an 8 trillion dollar 10 year projected debt. And it would have to be a lie since you've ruled out the "Stuck On Stupid". :D

EDITORIAL: Obama's 17% unemployment rate

That's what we got for almost a trillion in stimulus spending

The president is full of it when he talks about creating or saving jobs. During his State of the Union address Wednesday night, he said, "Now, because of the steps we took, there are about 2 million Americans working right now who would otherwise be unemployed. ... Economists on the left and the right say this bill has helped save jobs and avert disaster. ... That is why jobs must be our No. 1 focus in 2010, and that's why I'm calling for a new jobs bill tonight." This is pure fiction. Job losses under President Obama's watch have increased steadily without remission.

The unemployment rate is stuck at 10 percent. If calculations include Americans who aren't in the labor force because they stopped looking for work or were forced to take part-time jobs, the unemployment rate has been above 17 percent since September. The Obama administration promised that the incredibly costly stimulus package would keep unemployment down to 8.1 percent, but the result of so much spending has been more job losses - and Americans are angry.

Here is a chart that shows job losses for all recessions post WWII.

There are several things to note in that chart:

- the rate of job loss in the 1974 and 1981-82 recessions was just as steep (at times) as now (as a percent of total employment).

- several recessions (including the two I mentioned) have been ones where jobs were being lost over extended periods at a rate (percentage wise) equal to or even greater than the current recession. And yet, no one yelled the sky is falling and insisted we dump $10 trillion dollars of new debt into the economy.

- Notice how steep the 1957 recession was compared to now? Yet somehow we survived that without more than doubling the national debt.

There's a lesson here. That by interfering the government caused the recession to both lengthen and deepen. But, unfortunately, Obama is still Stuck On Stupid and refuses to learn from historical examples.

Yet, here you are posting on the thread with nothing to say in defense of Obama against the facts I noted. So who is the clown? :D

How about you bring some real thought to this process?

A spending freeze no matter how small, plus the end of the Shrub's brain-dead tax cuts add up to what?

Think for a change.

And the fact that the GNP is growing means that he has not mucked up the system. Consumer confidence makes a big difference. Stop ranting.

Oh, by the way, *skeptics*. Obama's lie is even bigger than what I said with regards to the $8 trillion figure he claims he inherited. Because here (http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9958/01-08-Outlook_Testimony.pdf ) is a January 8, 2009 CBO report that indicates the 10 year projected deficit Obama inherited was only $3.1 trillion (see Tables 4 and 5). Now surely Obama and his staff read this important report. So he must have lied in the SOTU in order to blame it all on Bush. Pathetic. Does he think we are all as gullible as his supporters? :D

I realize many of you would rather post smiley faces than sourced facts and logical argument, but that doesn't stop me from doing it ...

New York University Professor Nouriel Roubini, who anticipated the financial crisis, called the fourth quarter surge in U.S. economic growth “very dismal and poor” because it relied on temporary factors.

Roubini said more than half of the 5.7 percent expansion reported yesterday by the government was related to a replenishing of inventories and that consumption depended on monetary and fiscal stimulus. As these forces ebb, growth will slow to just 1.5 percent in the second half of 2010, he said.

“The headline number will look large and big, but actually when you dissect it, it’s very dismal and poor,” Roubini told Bloomberg Television in an interview at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. “I think we are in trouble.”

Looks like most people agree with me about Obama's SOTU dishonesty:

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/pub..._believe_president_s_assertions_about_economy

Deficit of Trust: Most Voters Don’t Believe President’s Assertions About Economy

… snip ...

On the question of cutting taxes for 95% of Americans, hardly any Republicans or unaffiliated voters believe it's true. However, Democrats are evenly divided: 34% say the tax cuts have been delivered, 29% say they haven’t, and 38% are not sure.

Sixty-three percent (63%) of Democrats agree with the president’s statement that the economy is growing again. Seventy percent (70%) of Republicans and 60% of unaffiliated voters disagree.

As for the claim about two million jobs, 46% of Democrats say it’s true, while 77% of Republicans say it’s not. As for those not affiliated with either major party, 24% say it’s true, and 59% say it’s false.

Regarding another initiative detailed in the speech on Wednesday night, just nine percent (9%) of voters believe the president’s proposed freeze on discretionary spending will have a big impact on the deficit.

Thanks, lefty, for totally discrediting anything else you might post on this thread. But at least you are honest enough to admit it. Most here have simply avoided the question with a passion because they know what a "no" answer shows. :D

The right and the left is starting to remind me of theism/atheism. Mostly the same liars with different flavors of lies. When you blur your eyes a bit, its mostly old white men with ties, living incredibly similar lifestyles in a similar cultural setting.

Still keeping them guessing I see ;)
