I bought more ammo since I thought the price was going to go up ... and I did it in the September before the election, as I was convinced Obama was going to win.

The fear of how far left he was suspected of being is what I think drove the boom in gun sales, since the farther left side has been championing further and further restrictions on firearms sales and ownership.

It appears that Obama isn't as far left as the perception held.

Supernovae, I suspect it is the perception of how he'd be on Gun Control that drove most of it, though your anecdote adds other motivations to that base motivation.

Didn't hear any of that talk around where I work, and most of us own guns as well as hunt.

I'm not sure ODS is worse than BDS in terms of the sheer nuttiness of the most inflicted. However, I think it is clearly worse in the sense of what positions in society the inflicted are admitted to.

With regards to BDS, anyone who's anyone on the left, from Bill Clinton to Bill Maher to even Noam Chomsky distanced themselves from such nonsense in the most clearest of terms.

With regards to ODS, you have presidential candidates like Mike Huckabee, house minority leader John Boehner (backed up by RNC chair Michael Steele) and countless of mainstream TV hosts, radio hosts and political columnists suffering from ODS, or at least very obviously pandering to those who do.

About George W. Bush there were 47 topics. Investigation proved 19 of them to be true, 16 to be false, 4 mixed truth and lies, 5 undetermined and 3 unclassifiable.

About Barack Obama there were 87 topics. Of these, 8 had proved to be true, 59 false, 17 mixed and 3 undetermined.

In less than one fourth the time in office, false rumors about Obama outnumber those about GW Bush by more than three-to-one. True stories for Obam are less than half of Bush's. Total activity on Obama rumors is 187% of that on Bush. And Obama is less than halfway through his first term.

Now I'm sure there are those who will claim that Snopes is a liberal website, but they will, in my opinioin, have a hard time providing evidence for such a claim.

The level of craziness of Obama haters is simply a great deal times higher than that of Bush haters. The biggest question about Bush was about his military service, and indeed, that is still a big mystery. There was no equivalent of Birthers or of groups claiming he had underground ties to other countries/religions.

ODS is the clear winner.

The problem with Snopes is it isn't politically unbiased. As evidence I point out that I proved it's descriptions of the circumstances surrounding Vince Foster's and Ron Brown's death are very misleading and often out and out false. For example, here:
