Obama vaccine picture trickery

I'm reasonably sure that the mismatch in his skin tones means that someone was playing with Photoshop on that photo and got a little filter happy. The skin on his arms is distinctly darker than that, meaning someone slid the lighting levels about, Ralph Lauren style (they need to take away photoshop from some people. That is, most of them).

So there is reason to believe it was shopped. That being said, the idea that he didn't get vaccinated is a tad nuts.

Or, his face and hands are darker than his arms because he gets more sun there. Were you not aware that non-white people can and do tan?

Well several things come to mind...

Did the Dr/nurse have a light focused on his arm and not his face? That would explain his arm seeming lighter.

How often does he go shirtless outside? I know a lot of guys who's arms, legs, etc are much lighter than their faces and hands.

I think the reason that his head seems larger is due to the angle and perspective of the shot.

My usual rightwingnut source of anti-Obie stuff hasn't sent this one around.
Maybe only the weirdies on the right would swallow it.
Wait... they're all weirdies... :)

The shirt above his left hand is distinctly had a flesh, or maybe a blur tool inexpertly dragged over it. Look at it.

Nice job 'touching up' the President, to whatever PR dickweed pulled that.

That is motion blur caused by a camera with a slow shutter speed while HE WAS moving to pull up his sleeve.

I have tons of photos that do this.

Inconsistent motion blur across one section of his hand? It looks like sloppy playing with photoshop to me. Go look at the rest of the picture. It's lacking. The nurse is presumably moving, she's not motion blurred anywhere (a slow shutter speed is slow. It's not slow on one person and fast on another).

Honestly, this is not a 'candid' photo. A little bit of touch up work to make it look good is expected. Why would you be surprised? Probably the lights either inconsistently illuminated his arm and hand, or were too bright on it, so the photographer just touched it up. He ended up being so heavy-handed that it now looks a tad unnatural to us.

On a larger issue, who cares? Antivaxxers have so many flaws with their stupidity that we can just point at them and laugh if they try and claim there's a conspiracy to promote vaccinations because the president's photographer uses photoshop.

ETA: Pretty sure I know what happened. If you look a the woman, there's a sharp profile shadow on her nose, sweeping back. That means the light was positioned to the right of the camera. There's every chance that half of Obama's arm was in shadow, and there could be odd shadows on his hand from that angle. The photographer probably just got rid of them.

Its not a photoshop job. Again if you missed it, the entire thing was video taped as well. same nurse appears in the video. It aired on the morning news to show that he was taking the shot (FOX 11 in LA showed the entire video)

ETA: you're also assuming that he was moving his hand up and down, when the motioin blur is suggesting that he was simply twisting his hand toward himself, which wouldn't cause a blur on the rest of his arm.

I wish you would read what I am writing, instead of what you think you are reading.

I did tread your entire post, Grey. And Im saying that it wasn't shopped. Playing with lighting settings because it didn't look right, doesn't support the original contention that it was shopped (THE OP linked to a post where the guy IS CLAIMING that it isn't Obama, and alleging by inference that OBAMA's face was photoshopped onto another mans body, who was getting a shot).

Im going by the original claim, not what others in the thread have speculated

When I right-click on the image in Flickr and look at Image Properties (I'm using Opera 10.10), it shows quite a bit of information about the photograph. Since people were talking about shutter speeds and things, I thought I might provide it:

I hope that will be of help to people who know more about photography than I do.

It says that Adobe Photoshop CS4 Macintosh was used. Could that just mean it is the default program for photos on the computer it was uploaded to the Internet from?

CS4 could be the software that is used to get the images from the camera, however the photographer could have done some minor processing (fix lighting and balance levels).

If it was a pure shop (meaning images taken from several other images and joined together) that information wouldn't be included in the file IXF (what you just saw on the Flickr photo) It would just have info that it was created by Photoshop, date it was created, dpi and so forth.

Far more info here:

It was uploaded to Flickr 7 hours after being taken.

Thanks, Arus808. :)

Also, that TinEye looks pretty useful. I've been wanting something like that for ages.

Wow, TinEye looks good. I may have to use it to locate some photos i uploaded years ago
