My post was intended to be light entertainment. I was unable to resist the temptation of writing the headline "Obama kills King of Saudi Arabia"!

My apologies for severely underestimating the literal-mindedness of the usual JREF suspects!

I regarded the article as transparent, mischievous rumor-mongering on a par with The Onion ("America's Finest News Source").

I indicated my humorous intent with a smiley and an exclamation mark to accompany a ridiculous thread title containing the completely implausible claim that phoning someone up who subsequently died of a heart attack could be portrayed as killing them!




I don't normally subscribe to the Americans-don't-do-irony theory but maybe there is some truth to it after all!

Becuase you posited a conspiracy theory about President Obama killing the King of Saudi Arabia with a phone call (duh).

The conspiracy would be in not reporting the death, rather than being about Obama's alleged sith skills.

It was a joke. If the thread was going to be moved anywhere, it should have been moved to humor!

However, as the article is real and reflects on real events in the Middle East (the fragility of Saudi Arabia's ruling power structure and swirling rumors about the King's health) it should have been left where it was.
