Obama is a Socialist Traitor!

The political scene was somewhat more civil until Gore was a sore loser in 2000 and unleashed garbage like David Boies to trash our institutions.

What goes around comes around. After 8 years of relentless trashing of President Bush and talking down the economy at every step, you expect the republicans to do what exactly if Obama wins the election? Display grace that democrats don't have? That's rich.

Hoping for change and more stuff.

Is "Omg, Obama might have a filibuster breaking majority in the senate" a form of derangement or just a good excuse to relocate to a tax shelter?

Of course members of the right such a Rush Limpbaugh and his ill are going to cry their asses off for at least four years. I think to assume otherwise is naive.
Truthfully, an Obama victory is very good for Limbaugh and other right-wing talk show hosts. They have their biggest audience when conservatives are outraged. That's why he did so well during the Clinton years.

Of course, the converse is true as well. Shows like The Daily Show have prospered mightily by pointing out the foibles of the Bush administration. Limbaugh and Stewart are entertainers. The better their material, the better their ratings.

You forgot the 'p'.....Oh, I know, but I like to have fun too.

Uh, where exactly were you during the Clinton years? This sort of "hate the other side/with us or against us" politics really strated flourishing during that time. Liberals didn't like Bush 1.0, but there was not nearly the same level of animosity towards him.

Anybody want to start a pool about when the first "Impeach Obama" bumpersticker is sighted in the wild?

November 5th.

I haven't a doubt that the GOP is already looking at calling for it. And that its a back up for the DNC in case a miracle occurs on McCains behalf. If you can't win at the ballot box, take 'em to court...

At least for nearly all of the left Bush had to actually get into office and do some stuff badly before he was abused.

Oh really?

I recall Bush was treated as a moron and/or warmonger even during the 2000 republican primaries, to say nothing about all the nonsense about Bush (or rather, his "handlers") "stealing the elections" from Gore, or the universal fear and loathing that Bush "the warmongering fundamentalist" might actually do something about 9/11 (less than a year after he took office), or that once Bush is elected the USA will quickly turn into a "theocracy", etc., etc., etc.

Well, yes, as a matter of fact, that is precisely what I *do* expect the Republicans to do if Obama wins. "But mooooooooooooommy, he hit me first!!!" sort of nonsense is hardy the way to go.

I think it goes back at least to Watergate, and further back to the 60s culture was between "the establishment" and the "revolutionaries". By and large the "revolutionaries" are now the leaders of the democratic party and the "establishment" the Republicans.

By the way: despite being a conservative, I could never understand why Bill Clinton was so hated. He was, by and large, a very good president: perhaps the best, economically speaking, America had had in peacetime in living memory. Apparently, he's a bit of a jerk as a person -- if reports about him are to be believed, which I don't necessarily do. But even if so, so what?

Bush wasn’t a considered a warmonger during the 2000 election. His foreign policy centered around free trade and a rejection of anything considered to be Isolationism. However at the time Bush was against ‘nation building‘. The thing he emphasized most in his campaign was closer relations with Mexico.

Once we had a President who was elected to office and some people really got upset. I think his name was Abraham Lincoln.

Once we had a President who was elected to office and some people really got upset. I think his name was every single president all the way back to, and including, Washington.

There.

Invade one maybe. Life is likely to become more interesting for small tax havens over the next few years.

As a life long socialist (please note the small "s") I can authoritatively say that Obama is not a traitor to socialism because he does not appeared to ever have had any socialist principles to violate.:duck:
