I saw that on MSNBC. It surprised me that McCain was doing so well, but after thinking about it, I think this is good news for Obama. I voted early last week. While there, I saw mostly older people voting. Most of the older people here vote Republican and many of them always vote absentee; my parents are a good example. In most elections in Florida, the Republicans usually get the early votes. If Obama can hold his own in the early votes, I think that his middled aged and younger supporters will be the deciding factor on November 4th. I would love to see Florida decide this election for Obama in the early evening hours on election day. If Obama wins Florida, it's over for McCain.

YEs the thought from the MSNBC analysts, was that even a statistical tie is good for early voting for Obama, as in the past early voting has been heavily Republican, as they tend to be very early voters, where as DEMS tend to be more election day, last minute voters.

As for polls as a whole, I approach them like I do Medical Studies. An individual study does not effect my opinion much, but a metanalysis (combining results of many studies on the same subject with the same end points) is much more persuasive.

Some part of me really wishes more emphasis would be placed on polls that suggest a tight race, though I'm not sure how honest a tactic that is.

I used to excitedly toss around giddy words like "will triumph" and "landslide" to describe the state of Obama's campaign. But a lot of this sort of talk could work against Obama, making people too confident and prone to place less effort into getting out and voting and campaigning on his behalf.

I am not sure I agree with that. Even if he does think that way, he is certainly less partisan than several posters here.

It's probably not at all honest but, if I was an Obama supporter who voted early, I would be tempted to tell exit-pollsters that I voted McCain as the last thing you want is people to think that they don't need to show up on the day.
