A newly released video shows the Sept. 11 World Trade Center attack from the vantage point of a NYPD helicopter.

According to Gawker, the National Institute of Standards and Technology requested the 17-minute video through the Freedom of Information Act, and the video was sent anonymously to the secret-sharing website Cryptome, which posted it. The Institute investigated the 9/11 attacks.

A warning to readers: The video, posted below, is difficult to watch--and voices on the soundtrack can be heard cursing as the horrific attack unfolds.

It's YouTube. You can put a video of practically anything there and some degenerate will sully it with puerile commentary.

Anyway, it was known ahead of time that helicopter rescue on the Towers was impossible, particularly after the 1992 bombing. The doors to the roof were actually locked.

When you're building's on fire, don't head for the roof. Just get out. Do whatever you have to do to get out.

Despite this, one aviation unit actually tried to land atop one of the towers, but had to call off the attempt after its engines overheated from the incredible fires below. That aircrew could have died, attempting something that was practically impossible and probably futile. Heroes indeed.

If memory serves, There was also no place to set the helicopter down, It was a sea of antennas

Everyone is copying that from a blogger who had his head up his ass.

NIST orginally got the tape from the NYPD, NIST released the tape pursuant to a FOIA request. The blogger conflated the two.
 
Parts of the videos where broadcast a long time ago on one of the cable networks, where they also interviewed the crew. They showed the part right after 2 collapsed.

Pretty certain I saw this exact footage in documentaries from 2002 onwards.
 
The shots of the tops of the Towers was pretty much round the Net.
One dweeb claimed that it couldn't be true because all aircraft were grounded.. :-(
