NYC Costume Party, in October?

I might be willing to help organize various aspects of a costume party, in New York City, for October. I don't know anything about the possible venues in the city, though, so someone else, with more expertise in the field, might have to pick the location.

We'll have a costume contest, with a few unconventional categories that I thought of.
And, we'll just party it up like it's... what ever year your costume happens to represent.

The main purpose of this thread is preliminary brainstorming. If there are any ideas or opinions you want to share, on this, before we finalize anything, now would be a good time to do so.

This might be an official New York City Skeptics event, so I started a sister thread on their forum: http://www.nycskeptics.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=220

Costume Contest Category Ideas

I know it's early, but,

perhaps some of you could help me decide on the costume contest categories and judging schemes. I propose that most of these be voted on by the other party members. But, (at least) one of the awards would be determined by an "elite" panel of judges.

Here are some ideas:

The usual:
Best in Show, as Determined by a Panel of Elite Judges
Best Overall Male Costume (popular vote, as are the rest of these: )
Best Overall Female Costume
Most Original Costume
Scariest Costume
Sexiest Costume
Funniest Costume
Best Hand-Made Costume
Best Costumed Couple

The innovative?
Best Implementation of a Classic Costume Concept (in other words, least-original costume, that still came out kinda spiffy)
Costume that Best Promotes Science and/or Skepticism
Most Scientifically-Accurate, Fantasy-Related Costume
Best Bang for the Buck (best low budget costume)
Costume that comes closest to being X-rated, without actually being X-rated
Worst Costume (winner gets gift cert. to a costume store, to buy a better one)
Best Costume Worn by Rebecca Watson
Best Repurposing of a Household Item (stole this idea from the Internet)

Group costume
That would work. Hopefully, group costumes will come in a form more like Ghostbuster teams, and less like Chinese dragons. (they're very long costumes, you see.)

Bravest costume, inspired by our second place winner at Icon who was wearing a duct tape thong, which was revealed in a strip. He is a very brave guy and was rewarded accordingly ;)
I think we got that covered in "closest to X-rated". Though, "Bravest Costume" could be a good alternative phrasing, in case the organizers don't like the original name.

Can I put on a Wowbagger Costume?
Sure! Why not?! Mine's gonna be better than yours, though.

Actually, I'm not sure, yet, what my costume will be. But, I do have a small stockpile of ideas to work with.
