NY AG files civil fraud suit against Trump

He used the UK wording*. Odd.

(*which is logical, unlike the US wording, which makes no sense at all. Please carry on ... ;))

"I could care less" is not correct in the US, either. It's one of my pet peeves along with using "further" for distance (farther).

Whatever happened to the Mickey No-Neck goon who represented him last year somewhere? The one with the Brooklyn accent speaking Wiseguy like he was Jimmy Cagney, nyah see!

Took a powder 'cuz he didn't get paid?

Haha, sounds like Rudi, who seems to have drunk himself into oblivion.

A loud , ignorant and corrupt man that has never had any respect for the law, much less other people. Tells a heap of lies.
Mainly to rile up a well armed, relatively ignorant sector of the population to..... do something, maybe.
Except they face prison terms for acting on his behalf while he skates off utterly ignoring any sacrifice they made for him.

And now none of his well practiced tricks are holding up in any court and he is desperate to keep up his lifestyle.

This should end well for him if the many courts are as prepared as they appear to be. At least for those quietly watching him fall.

The nasal voice and frequent repetition of "see" was Edward G. Robinson. Coincidentally, Stephen Colbert recently did a bit about Speaker Mike Johnson doing impressions, did an impression of Robinson, but said it was Robert DeNiro.

“Not that I recall.”

The Trumps seem to have a genetic memory problem.

Yep.

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump Jr. testified Wednesday that he never worked on his father’s financial statements, the documents now at the heart of the civil fraud trial that threatens former President Donald Trump’s real estate empire.

The ex-president’s eldest son is an executive vice president of the family’s Trump Organization and has been a trustee of a trust set up to hold its assets when his father was in the White House.

At least one of the annual financial statements bore language saying the trustees “are responsible” for the document. But Donald Trump Jr. said he didn’t recall ever working on any of the financial statements and had “no specific knowledge” of them.

The lawsuit centers on whether the former president and his business misled banks and insurers by inflating his net worth on the financial statements. He and other defendants, including sons Donald Jr. and Eric, deny wrongdoing.

Trump Jr. said he signed off on statements as a trustee, but had left the work to outside accountants and the company’s then-finance chief, Allen Weisselberg.

he appeared to be laying groundwork to blame any irregularities in the financial statements on the Trump Organization’s longtime outside accountant, Donald Bender. Trump Jr. testified that the company “relied heavily on” Bender as “a point person for just about anything we did, accounting wise.”

You stupid **** [Trump Jr.]. If you are going to sign a document you have the responsibility to know what you are signing. What do you think you are being paid for?
Hi Junior! Just a little heads-up for you: Your dad is going to drop you in the **** as soon as talk to you before he goes to jail. You're being set up as the fall-guy. Just so you know... ;)

Eric's had a case of amnesia too, apparently.

Eric Trump, as he started his testimony, said he “never had anything to do with the statement of financial condition,” didn’t believe he’d ever seen one and ”didn’t know anything about it, really, until this case came into fruition.”

“It’s not what I did for the company,” said the son, who has insisted his interests lie mainly in “pouring concrete” — constructing and operating properties. He said that while he knew the company had financial documents, he “was not personally aware of the statement of financial condition.”

State lawyer Andrew Amer then showed him 2013 emails from then-Trump Organization controller Jeffrey McConney who explained to Eric Trump that he was “working on your father’s statement of financial condition” and needed information on one of the company’s properties.

“So you did know about your father’s annual financial statement as of August 2013?” Amer asked.

“It appears that way,” testified Eric Trump, who was a lower-level executive at the time.

I think one thing that is very clear is that the state is completely justified in barring these guys from owning any companies in the state. They have established that they pay no attention to anything that is going on and let accountants deal with it, and just blindly sign things.

That's if we take their testimony at face value. They have no business running a company.
