Because he apparently knows the handlers. Why have 100 people (number for the sake of a number) send in FOIA requests for the same document and clog up the already backed-up system when he might be able to get an answer sooner?

I've been reviewing your FOIA response.

Nowhere in it does it acknowledge that any sort of CRITIC message exists. It acknowledges that you ASKED for a declassified copy of it. The only thing that it points out in response to your request is that they have completed the search for your materials, and that it is not "voluminous." It doesn't say what those particular materials are, only that they completed a search for them, and whatever they found, there isn't a lot of it.

Exactly, I requested a very specific document and they found it. Simple as that.

Actually, you don't know they found it. You know they have looked for what you asked, and completed their search. Specifically, they may have found nothing. This has been pointed out to you several times, but you just don't seem to get it.

And in passing I should point out, as at least one other person has noted, that unless the FOI rules are very different in the US to the UK, your FOI request was pointless overly specific.

You don't seem to reference a particular document by DTG, serial number, or any other of the myriad ways that they are categorized and filed. Your request is for a very general declassified copy of any Critic messages. Doesn't seem to be anything specific about that to me at all.

The letter said it was behind other requests, so it would take appx 20 days. That was on Sept 12th. It is now October 21st. Thats 39 days...

"Behind other requests" is just a polite way of saying that they probably won't send you anything before you forget that you send the request in the first place.

39 days and counting... 40 if you consider that the business day for today is over.

To answer your question, I haven't been finished being entertained by your media fantasy yet, so I don't know.

Filed where? Any TO/INFO addees? What did the DECL field say? That might give you an indication of when you can expect to see it.

This message would have been released by a person in a position of authority. You don't just hand carry them around without a folder and a coversheet. If it's classified it's got a colorized cover sheet denoting a) that it's classified and b) at what level.

A letter? No, I called and discussed it with them and they confirmed the Case Number, and the general subject of the FOIA request over the phone.

They also told me yesterday that: IT COULD BE ANOTHER 30 DAYS before they get any documents out!!
