Here in the U.S. we have something called the FDA that tries to stop that sort of thing. But YMMV, I guess. :D
 
Well, you have to admit that the potential return on investment for the government money is probably pretty high. Except, of course, since it's a grant they don't actually get the money back.

But hey, why should the diet/herbal remedy/homeopathic industry be dominated by the big companies that can hide millions in offshore accounts? Let the little guy have his chance at defrauding the public!

Gentlemen,

It all depends on what she looks like. Sorry, but them's the facts. Now, if she looks a bit like Stevie Nicks in her younger days doing the Rhiannion thing, I believe that we should not rush to judgement. If, on the other hand, we have one of these aged crone types, she is clearly a fake and should be burned.

This is simply my non-knee jerk, non-close minded sceptic view of the matter.

Also, Norwegians are loons:D
 
I would go the opposite way. I would promote the hell out of her (if that's possible :)). Put her on talk-shows, daily newsrags, that sort of thing.

Then make a public request for her to prove her product(s) or face returning her grant because she deceived the Norwegian government about what she was going to do with the money. Chances are she (and the government by proxy) can be made to look pretty stupid in public.

Which would all lead to greater public awareness of this sort of ripoff, plus the government won't try that again in a long time,

I suspect this is a cultural thing, so I'll risk overexplaining. The stereotypical witch in the US is a crone who wears a black conical hat, rides a broomstick, and has a black cat as a familiar. Black cats are considered bad luck, evil, etc. So for the witch to have a white cat goes against the stereotype.

The stereotypical way to kill witches is to burn them, Nyar is just looking to cop a feel, I'm a bit confused by the Stevie Nicks references as I think she's now in her 50s or 60s but they may mean a young Stevie Nicks. Then again, it is Ed... :D

Yup, the Church of Norway. They claim membership of 86 percent of the population, or nearly four million people. But the only times the average Norwegian is likely to see the inside of a church is at baptism, confirmation and marriage. Only 3 percent of the population attends regular church services.

I suspect that she would find enough sympathetic fools to rush to her defense with testimonials, etc. As I'm sure Randi can attest, debunkers are not popular and politicians are all about being popular.

Who would challenge her?
