Nonskepticism and the Memo

He needs to attack Bush, because he will be defined by the RNC if he doesn't.

I think if he attacks Bush, the attack will get press and his positions won't.

"today John Kerry launched brand new attacks on the bush administration for in his words leading us into Iraq without planning to build Dunkin Donut shops afterwards to support a stable Iraqi police force, he later called for more jobs and free pet vaccinations"

See what I mean?

If only Kerry had attacked Bush right after defining his platform at the DNC, when his numbers were higher than Bush's in the polls, and no one could accuse him of desparation or anonymity......

I think Kerry has a message problem. What is his message? I think all these new hires and advisors are probably only further diluting his message. Even in his acceptance speech he had a message problem. What does anyone remember about that speech now except that he made ten or twelve allusions to his vietnam service.

Its very late in the game for Kerry to bring on board more hired guns like hes been doing lately. The assumption you make is that the old crew wasn't getting things done. The air of failure or desperation has a snowball effect I think to some degree.

The election is only a little way away and the convention is over. At this point I am not sure if Kerry can get his message out to voters. Maybe going negative and trying to turn this into a referendum vote is the only way for kerry to win.

Everyone disagrees with Bush on some issue including republicans. He has clearly defined stands on many divisive issues. That is his vunerability and turning this into a referendum election will get people to vote on issues sensitive to them. Gays, stem cell research, medicare reform, iraq. Bush has pissed off everyone at least once and if you can make voters remember that one time and vote based on it then maybe Kerry can win.

Not so. He's in an undisclosed secret location.

How about the theory that Rather is a sooper seekrit GOP operative?

Even better. Michael Stipe forged the documents because he needs some dough? Look for a single titled "What's The Font Kenneth" to be released later this month...

Nope.

In reality every time he is supposed to appear, due to the expected crowds an ambulance is sent. By longstanding habit and instinct he then starts following the ambulance, which leads to a large crowd. He then assumes it must be a really bad accident and by the time he figures out there isn't an accident it is too late and a cover story is put into place that he really was never supposed to appear in the first place and if anyone says otherwise they will be sued.

Huge conspiracy. I mention this at great risk. In fact there is a guy with a subpoena outside my office as I type this...

And taken a leadership position. I agree. He should have defined two weaknesses in GW and two things that he would make his own and then hammered them from then on.

or

He could have had his daughters rip their tops off.

Either would have been more effective than what actually went down.
