I suppose that is correct, as far as it goes, but sometimes I think some Buddhists go too far with these various early formulas and allow them to make the tradition more rigid than was ever intended. It is like Christians quoting the Bible or Muslims the Q'uran--a way to upstage and suppress varying views without genuine exchange.
