I'm not sure we're talking about the same paragraph. The one you linked to is the one where Darat tells everybody not to play silly buggers with their pronouns, yes? If that's the one that you intended to link me to, I'm sorry but I can't see anything in that paragraph that remotely resembles what you're saying.
It was theprestige who linked to it, but yes that's the paragraph in question. To paraphrase Darat said that if you're obviously lying about your pronoun preferences for some reason (for instance for argumentative effect), then that won't be enforced. Why? Because that isn't your actual preferred pronoun, I guess.

Anyway, if you didn't get the point of that paragraph as an example, you understood the point, as is clear from the below quoted text, so thanks for that:

Okay, I'm following this...

I grant that as an exception to my general rule. Sorry, "rule". More like a guideline really. But I can't help thinking that this is very much a fringe case. On the fringiest edge of fringe, honestly.

I see its relevance to your line of argument now, yes.

The claim to identify as an attack helicopter was a deliberate and malicious mockery of transgender identity, and it should be dismissed as such.

It’s a slippery slope argument, plain and simple. If we allow a man to marry another man, we have to let a farmer marry his cow, too.

All that Person B is doing is trying to find ways to confirm (or otherwise) Person A's love for them.
Can we agree that sometimes people lie to themselves and/or others about whether they are in love? If so, can you see what that does to your analogy?

The attack helicopter thing is hyperbolic, but there are some amazingly bespoke genders out there to be affirmed, e.g. https://nonbinary.wiki/wiki/Otherkin#Kingender
