Noam Chomsky sits in paradise, spits on the floor.

Why rely exclusively on your ears?

Millions of US citizens depend on food stamps to survive.

And they get the food stamps, and somehow manage to survive, many weighing in at 300+. Barely able to waddle, they can often be spotted at Walmart, seeking that which they may devour.

It is not necessary to rely on our ears. We can feel them coming. The impact tremors.

I doubt that man is in his 80s. I even doubt that man is going to make it into his 80s. A person who is healthy for an 80 year old is going to look similar to Noam Chomsky.
That's not an answer. He's an old man. A very old man, given his face and completely gray hair. Keep trying.

If you want to be understood, it helps to explain your point a little better.
My plain was plainspoken and perfectly clear. Why don't you tell me what you think it was?

If everything he said is true (it is to a limited degree) that does not change the fact that many countries traditionally called "Third World" are doing fairly well, and in some aspects better than the US does. If that's because the US helped them, thank you very much.
Chomsky isn't in one of those countries. He's in the First World Country that was responsible for large amounts of that prosperity. Now, you demonstrate to me that you actually understand one of my points. Because to this point you have failed miserably.

My ex-girlfriend was Nigerian. Her grandfather lived till 101, her grandmother is 106 or 107 (still kicking). This was in the backwoods of Nigerian, no modern medicine, none of that, just a simple village. Last time I checked she had more than 10 relatives in her home village that were well past 90 another 15 in were their 80s. The stereotype that people die fast and young in sub-saharan Africa is quite laughable sometimes. I noticed one thing about all those people in the village, they lived a very active lifestyles, they all have very diverse diets complete with lots of fruits, fish, vegetables, they had some good cornmeal fried chicken here and there (yes they do this over there), and of course they had lots of good spices. They all pretty much lived a very simple agrarian way of life and had a village school and a small village library. It was a very nice and small place to live.

Wow! That must be mighty tasty Kool-Aid you've been quaffing.

I think it was just a cheap stab at someone's looks.

He's in the First World Country that was responsible for large amounts of that prosperity.
... and that hasn't been able to keep up with them in growing it's own prosperity. You think "Third World" sounds like an insult -- and Noam probably intended it as an insult -- but as an insult it has lost a lot of its impact. "Third World" countries aren't necessarily poor anymore.

Maybe if you shout "Understand Me!" one more time, because you can totally demand to be understood. :oldroll:

Better than if he walked by a flag for the USSR, which he'd definitely salute (in his pants). No idea why people waste their time on this godless commie scumbag. I shall happily refer anyone in the future to the original post for a completely rational analysis of Chomsky's unqualified rantings (his worthless degree is in the field of linguistics).

yes, among his many degrees, he also has degrees in linguistics.

Chomsky is a jerk, and we ARE trying to turn ourselves into a miserable 3rd world country held down by the Christian Taliban.

Horse-****! Honorary degrees mean jack-all unless they're from Arizona State University. Although I have do not have the evidence at this time, I strongly suspect Noam Chomsky is a warlock. I should probably attempt to awaken the masses by -- I dunno -- working on an elixir, or starting a blog. But I'm not gonna you dumb goat-******. This great nation has gone beyond the point of no return; the Obamaclypse nears, and I cannot spend the last precious moments on my 144 acre property honing my skills as a survivalist AND a warlock-hunter. Sorry, not possible. You people are on your own, salam alaikum.

Chomsky... I can't get this guy straight. Sometimes he says very illuminating and revealing things, sometimes it's just gibberish. I think I have some sort of respect for him, but I'm not sure why.

To be fair, some of the US transport infrastructure such as its roads and bridges are indeed like some of the Third World.

I was going to ask, "Just how fast is the fastest train in the US, anyway?" and then I decided to use the mighty Google (yes, from the USA!!) on the old Internet (USA! USA! USA!) or is it the World-Wide-Web (UK! UK! UK!) I can never remember.

Anyway, the Discovery channel (USA! USA! USA!) says:

The fastest train in the United States is Amtrak's Acela Express, which travels between Boston and Washington, D.C., and reaches speeds of up to 150 mph (241.4 kph). But that's less than half of the top speed of the world's fastest train. There are several trains in Europe and Asia that would leave the Acela Express in the dust.

Uh-oh! I think that's the very train Chompers was talking about.

Which trains leave the Acela Express in the dust?

I know that Chomsky is not the brightest of bulbs but why is everyone basically attacking him instead of discounting his radical ideology? You are not any better than Chomsky by using words like, "he's an evil jackass who deserves to dies etc." I get that the statement in it of itself shows the true flaw in Chomsky's logic which is obvious. But I beg of you all, don't contribute to the man's ignorance please.

His ideology is nuts.

Chomsky seems to be attacking the English language itself:
America is a "third world country" and a "dictatorship"
Holocaust deniers are "apolitical"
Accusing Pol Pot of mass murder is "propaganda"
Israel is like the "Third Reich" and "apartheid"
Additionally, it seems impossible for him talk about any event, past or present, without bringing up a supposed equivalent misdeed by the US or Israel no matter how non sequitur it is to the topic at hand. It's like this one time at band camp....

His ideology is nuts.

Then it should be easy enough to counter it rather than going ad hom.

Additionally, it seems impossible for him talk about any event, past or present, without bringing up a supposed equivalent misdeed by the US or Israel no matter how non sequitur it is to the topic at hand. It's like this one time at band camp....

On the other hand, it´s impossible to bring up any Republican´s or other right-winger´s misdeeds without the right-wingers going all "but the Democrats...".

So...how many third-world countries have 150-mph passenger trains? You know, besides the US?
