Noah's Ark a Reality

Ahh the Ark of Noah, proof that there was a flood even when the evolutionists deny the fossil record of the flood and deny everything else.

I mean even Jesus confirmed the truth about Noah and the worldwide flood. But then again deny-ers will be deny-ers as that is their religion.

Hans... it doesn't matter... the guy didn't build a boat.. he built a prop... just go to the link I posted and look at the building of... the outside "hull" is just planks of wood, nailed over 2x4s and insulation. Even if this thing had a bottom (which it doesn't), it would sink like a stone.
So what's the big deal? We've had one of those for many years here in St. Louis (actually just over the Missouri River in St. Charles). It's a restaurant and motel. It's been closed now for some time. I remember eating there when I was a kid.

DJJ: are you saying this model of Noah's Ark built by a guy in Holland is proof that evolution, the organizing principal behind all of the biological sciences, is wrong?

Some guy building a big boat using modern materials not available thousands of years ago proves that another guy built an even bigger boat a long time ago and that that boat stored several animals of every species on board as it sailed for over a month on a worldwide flood.

On the other hand the mountains of evidence of evolution by natural selection are nowhere near good enough.

Edit: Cheers joobz!

So where is this ark? Where is the proof?

Hope you don't mind me adding a bit to fully highlight this silliness of the argument.

The Ark is proof of nothing since we don't know if it (in any scale or scope) existed in the first place. The same logic makes the Illiad a history book. I hope you've buffed Zeus' ego recently.

that there was a flood even when the evolutionists deny the fossil record of the flood and deny everything else.
I deny that.
Your understanding of the phrase "fossil record" is clearly lacking.

And Joseph Smith confirmed the truth of the Nephites and their history. At least the Mormon's prophet bothered to write this stuff down.

He actually claims to have a B.S., sorry, B.Sc. in science. All queries as to what field this claimed science degree is in have gone unanswered.

To be fair, DJJ, geologists deny your interpretation of the fossil record too.

Pardon my ignorance, but what are the putative dimensions of Noahs ark (in modern units, please)?

So a story in the Bible (since there is no "Ark of Noah" in physical existence) is proof of a story in the Bible? Or a story in the New Testament is proof of a story in the Old Testament? I'm sorry, exactly what is proof of exactly what?

Meanwhile, old Noah's Ark Restaurant I mentioned above got me remembering how it was. I must've gone there in the 1970s, and I suppose it was built right about the time the interstate went in (and a sign near there claims that this was the first U.S. interstate, so I assume it was built in the '50s or early '60s). Back then, it was just a cute theme for a nifty roadside attraction. There were no trappings of Biblical literalism. It was an age of innocence.

He did admit in one of the interminable Forum Management whiny threads that he studied biology. Seriously.

OK, you can stop rolling around on the floor now. ;)

I remember his statement that he had failed a biology class. I still strongly suspect that he has no degree of any kind.

At any rate, he seems to have just as hard a time as g4macdad has in understanding that the link in the OP offers zero evidence in support of the literalistic interpretation of the Biblical flood.

Depends on who you listen to and how big you think a cubit is. Roughly 450 feet long.

Wow, by modern standards, that's pretty small. I think it'd be pretty difficult to get all those animals on a ship that's half the length of a Panamax sized vessel. Building something that size from wood seems like it would be difficult, if not impossible. It seems like ships of over 100M length have required several steel structural components (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_world's_largest_wooden_ships)

Oh yeah! Moderator, the statement about the US south? Please?

Are you people actually serious?
I live in the US south and the answer is, yes. There are a number of mega-churches in this area that believe and teach a literal genesis.

Actually, in truth, I haven't found any good 'q yet. We moved here (lexington) in july and still haven't had really good bbq.
That would be because the really good bbq is in Tuscaloosa Alabama and Memphis Tennessee.

Ah, Jesus was a liar. Or, are you saying that Mel Brooks really is 2000+ years old?

Ah, yes, Matthew chapter 15, verse 32:

"And lo, Jesus did say: 'Behold, if any among you claimeth that Noah's ark wasn't real, then he will surely be full of crap.'"

Don't forget verse 33:

"And then didst Thomas let out a mighty D'Oh such that it shook the very foundations of the earth, and verily didst the other apostles call him a doody-head."

Poor Thomas, among all the apostles only he had half a brain.
