Yes and no. In this particular area fine. The whole lot is falling into the sea so isn't going to be around long anyway and the authorities are aware of the activity. In many other cases the damage done by amateur and for profit fossil hunters is a serious problem. The metal dector mob are another problem.

According to various reports she's somewhere between 5 and 9 years old. Whatever age, she really found a nice one there, announced on the same week as another derelict dinosaur in the mud of Wight was also described. Good show.
