New YouTube video shows children reciting Pledge without "under God" in December 1950
This video was posted today by Democratic Underground user "KAMouflage". He says:
It shows children reciting the Pledge on December 7, 1950, on the eve of the Korean War, which explains the reference to "World War III" at the end.
The children do not say "under God" because the movement to add the phrase began the following year and was made official in 1954 during the Eisenhower Administration. (See also, McCarthyism.)
This video could be one more piece of graphic ammunition to use against those ubiquitous and frustrating claims that the USA is a "Christian nation".
