I think this is pretty conclusive evidence that you are just about the worst person on the planet to try to decode sincerity from the words people use. Did you really think he was going to stick a needle in his eye? Really? Or did you ever suspect that it's a children's idiom ?

I didn't know this was an idiom, I preferred to not take any chances (if this is an idiom, it's an extremely violent one btw). Nevertheless, I prefer to not run any risk, I have seen too many violent events (apparently) related to this still hypothetical telepathy.

Well, I am a doctor by the same criterion, so what does that mean? I still consult medical doctors and they have helped fix some problems that I didn't even know that I had. I have been very careful to include the possibility that you might be telepathic in my posts. Maybe it IS a mole, but maybe it is a carcinoma: it pays to check with someone who knows this better than I would.

Remember that Michel's claim is not that he can hear other peoples' thoughts but that everybody - including you - can hear his thoughts.

You don't have to consider any possibilities, you already know whether his claim is true.

I liked actually your first answer better (the one in which you said "I trust this is acceptable", and that you replaced by "Oops"), even though it did not adhere strictly to the protocol either (but it violated it in an interesting way). Could you merge these two posts into one, or post a new answer? This little remark applies also to other participants, please answer text and MD5 in just one post, like the first three answerers have done.

Nope, I do not hear his thoughts, even though we are both doctors.

So I guess either his claim is wrong, or I am a bad receiver, or I am a lier. Sounds like a classical riddle, doesn't it: on an island there are people who only tell the truth, and people who only lie. What question should you ask them to....

Except when there isn't a large amount of foreknowledge in what is allegedly being transmitted...

It's quite telling that the only time an almost-legitimate testing methodology was used, there was no evidence of telepathy.

What does Michel do? Come up with a specious reason why that test isn't a proper one, completely bypassing the more obvious conclusion that he doesn't actually have telepathy.

Instead, we end up with a method that forces a result that confirms his expectations, and Michel refuses to attempt any valid testing methods.

Oh well, it's his life to waste.
