It won't be gone from sight. There are already multiple copies that will continue to float around and Perry would have his official campaign ad flagged as hate speech (or some variant thereof).
Besides, don't you know the fastest way to distribute material is to ban it?

If he does run, there's a serious chance that he loses. I don't think that probability existed before this Presidential run. Most Texans had no idea how much of a dolt he is. He refused to attend any of the various debates this last election.
But good for Texas, in a way, that the Governor is no more than a figurehead. Very little actual power, most of which is held by the Lieutenant Governor.
Not to say that our current Lieutenant Governor, David Dewhurst, is any better.

Well, smarter. That's not necessarily good, but more like inevitable. Perry is only in power because the Republican Smear Machine has paved the way for his elections so that they can use him as a dim-witted lackey. Because the Governor of Texas doesn't actually do anything, it's easy to sneak his idiocy by the voters.
