There's really no excuse for this one. Who the hell thought this would be an effective campaign ad? This isn't just the least effective political ad ever made, this is pure political suicide. If he didn't want to run for president, he should have bowed out gracefully, not by doing this.

I can only imagine that these days you have to pull out all the stops to get attention for the Republican primaries. Or he wants to promote his brand of insane Christian Right whackjobbery.

I should point out, as a non-American, that this advert hits almost every single cliche that Europeans and British people love to think is typical of American politics.

It's all about Gaaaaawd, fuming about liberals, it's po-faced, sentimental with soaring schmaltzy music and recycles the canard that the USA is God's country. And then, hilariously, Perry has to tell everyone that he approved what he's just said.

I believe that Youtube allows the uploader to disable that function. I think I've come across Youtube videos that can't be rated. I'm surprised they didn't use that when it became apparent how much most people hate the video.

I think they're leaving this one because there would be greater backlash for disabling ratings on one that allows it already.

Also, the comments were disabled. I'm not sure which other politicians do it, but it's really not a good look: "I don't want to listen to what you have to say".

EDIT: For example, all the Obama ones I saw were open for ratings and comments. At least, the comments were open for Ron Paul supporters.
Videos on Mitt Romney's channel were open too.

The Newt Gingrich videos I saw didn't allow comments.

I do understand that the repeated Republican claims that there is a liberal party in America makes it all very confusing, however.
