The last one was fun.

Here's the latest PEW Research News IQ Quiz:

http://www.pewresearch.org/quiz/the-news-iq-quiz/

The average American got 5 out of 12 right.

I, (an Aussie) got 9 out of 12 (better than 86% of respondents).

I'm sure there are plenty here who'll do better, and hopefully some who'll do worse. :)

No spoilers for you in my OP. Do the quiz first, friends!

Also non-US, and 11/12 (my knowledge of US government spending is lacking, must do better)

Although the question I got wrong seems to be the one that the most people get wrong, so maybe I'm not so dumb after all. :)

Also 11/12 (no idea about the current chair of the U.S. Federal Reserve Board), also not U.S.

I got that one!

I way overestimated the US minimum wage.

I thought that one was easy, as there was a recent burst of news stories about various groups including Obama trying to move it above $10.00.
I think there was a thread here about it too, with a number of Antipodeans boasting about your champagne and caviar standard minimum wage, and the resident right wingers predicting the collapse of Western Civilization if that spread to the US:)

:newlol I see what I miss when I don't hang out in this subforum all the time!

It's fascinating to compare economic circumstances in different countries. Cleaners in Melbourne are on strike because they earn a measly $24 an hour....

11/12 I used to know which countries were Shia vs. Sunni, but I don't now.

10/12. I overthought the Shia/Sunni question and naively thought Social Security was funded from workers paychecks.

11 of 12. I actually scored 10 but that's due to my new tablet... I tried to hit the right answer but the thing clicked "continue".....

12/12

I think if these questions were Australia focused, I would have only gotten 8/12. In particular, I have no idea which branch of Islam is more dominant down under. :)

12/12 here too. A one percenter! :D

The poverty rate question was one I wasn't totally confident about but I managed to pick the right answer. 2 of them seemed in the ballpark.

Wow, only 1 in 3 know the current unemployment rate and only 1 in 5 know what the government spends the most money on! (That's worse than random guessing, btw because there were only 4 choices).

Didn't know what the US Gov. thinks the unemployment rate is.

I also didn't know the Prime Minister of Israel which, being Jewish, I feel slightly bad about.
