New Hampshire Union Leader Endorses Newt Gingrich

New Hampshire's largest newspaper is endorsing Newt Gingrich, giving the former House speaker a jolt in a state that has the first presidential primary.

The New Hampshire Union Leader wrote in Sunday's editions that the former Georgia lawmaker is the choice of the conservative editorial page.

The Union Leader has a spotty track record (twice endorsed Pat Buchanan), but their endorsement will give Newt's campaign a boost.

I can't think of which opinion I care about least: unions', Newt Gingrich's, or a Yankee state's. Or newspapers', in case I didn't click the link to get the joke.

I'm waiting for the Washington Times to tell me who to vote for.

The Union Leader is a newspaper. There is nothing in this story about unions or their opinions.

And like it or not, the early primary states will have a disproportionately large impact on the GOP primary.

Chances are, if he was interviewed by the press, he was then misquoted.

This is true. I've been involved in a number of local volunteer things and have occasionally been interviewed and not once was the resulting quote what I actually said. First couple times I thought it was me misremembering what I said. After that I would try to make sure someone else was there when I was interviewed and their reaction was the same as mine. "That's not what was said!"

I have only been quoted a few times in the press, and all of those times the quote was accurate.

However, there was a case where the actions of someone else was mistakenly attributed to me; I talked to the reporter in question and she agreed that she did get that detail wrong and she later corrected it.
