New Age religions don't make you happy

"Struggle" and "sufferring" as you call it appear quite differently to different people. If life were a game of football, and God were the coach, would you advise that the players' complaints about the struggle and sufferring that they go through during practice would be without merit in the end? They are bettering themselves for the road ahead. Also, in my spiritual beliefs, there is not a single sentient being on this planet (or any other) that did not choose their complete destiny through life; choosing the struggles they would go through to learn from. It all goes back to karma, which is a complicated and intricate thing but through it we learn to balance our eternal nature. Can you think of a single bad experience in your life from which you did not LEARN a very valuable lesson? I assert that you intended for that bad experience to happen to you, prior to your birth into this life, so that you could learn that very lesson from that experience. There is no "sufferring," there is only what we have intended.

So, yes, you can say that letting people suffer is my moral choice, BUT it is not a corrupt one - I am leaving them be to a life of their own design, which may appear to anyone else as a life of sufferring. That life of struggle will in fact turn out to be exactly what that soul required during this incarnation to work through a problem/lesson(karma). In my system of morality there is also reincarnation, destiny, and karma to consider. It's not a "corrupt moral position," from where I'm standing; it's actually a path of compassion, and recognition of an individual's right to live the life that they have intended.

As for teaching magick, well, that is a transfomative process by which any soul may achieve it's highest goal - the attainment of nirvana, or enlightenment; there are many ways to liberation, magick is only one path among the many. By teaching, I have done my part AND not interfered with the destinies of those souls that I affect.

Besides, I'm a Taoist. There is nothing wrong with the world as it is, in my moral belief system. All is Well.:D

Everything is karma? Everyone chooses their destinies in life?

There are no accidents?

If a child is drowning, or trapped in a burning house, and you were in a position to save the child, you would not do it?

Any chance of you addressing my questions in post # 115?

... Also, in my spiritual beliefs,

I appreciate that you emphasised that your claims stem from your spiritual beliefs, but - and its a BIG BUT - please note that this is a critical thinking forum, where claims require support

Do you have any credible (non-woo, verifiable, repeatable, testable, etc) evidence to support the notion that:
... there is not a single sentient being on this planet (or any other) that did not choose their complete destiny through life...

If so:
  • please provide it
  • In this context, are dogs, cats, mice and/or cockroaches such 'sentient beings'?
If not
  • please stop making such claims

But people anticipate that something is about to happen. They will interpret any change, or imagine that something is happening.

Do you acknowledge that this can happen?
Yes, I do think that can happen. It wasn't applicable in the situation I described to you, and I have tested it with other people throughout my experiences with this technique. Energy healing is real; it just requires an experienced practitioner to do it.

And this didn't cause you to stop and consider what it is you are doing??
When the client indicates they want to stop, I'll stop. I expected this reaction from this client because I was manipulating her kundalini energy, which is always going to cause a noticeable reaction. She was pleased with the results.

Come, now: What is it that makes you so afraid of revealing these things? If we learned these things, should we be as afraid as you are?
If you knew what I knew, then you would be afraid of this: When you can "see" the invisible world, then the inhabitants of the invisible world can see that you see them. This makes them take notice of you. Now you will have TWO dimensions to pay attention to, becuase both worlds will be vying for your attention. I'm on that threshold now. The thing is, you can't stay focused on two dimensions at the same time, all of the time.

That may be so. But do you acknowledge that there are many, many accounts of alien abductions?
Yes, there are.

How do you know this? How can you just declare that you know what really happened to them?
Because I've seen the elemental realms with my own eyes. I've also read the accounts of other seers, who describe the same things. What's happening to these people who "see" these things is this: Their assemblage point has shifted to another position, which allows them to access another dimension of reality; the particular dimension they tuned in to was an elemental one (thus the sitings of fairies, gnomes, and other elemental spirits). These are the same spirits one would encounter if using Nature Magick correctly. (any experienced Wiccan or Druid will attest to having seen these creatures while calling corners, or summoning the elementals).

I didn't ask what it would take. I asked when you will try it. When, exactly?
First attempt was a failure.

You don't need to teach me. You just need to show me.
I'm not sure that it's possible to show you, or any skeptic.

Does that mean that you accept being tested?
Anonymously through the forum I will submit to any test you like. I will not reveal my identity to you though.

If it is not based on your psychic abilities, then it has no bearing on this discussion.
I wanted to insert my intellectual idea into the public record, prior to my attempt to access the future.

How is this different from accessing the memories of another person?
It isn't, really. How do you think it is possible for me to access another person's memories?

That is testable. Do you agree to such a test?
There are plenty of people that are practicing shamanism these days. When we attract a few more trustworthy students of shamanism to this discussion, perhaps we could arrange a group demonstration. In the end, though, we will still reach the conclusion that you don't see anything that we are seeing: ghosts, "energy," and all that woo-stuff. Aren't you interested in the techniques we use to "see"?

If my perception is backed by evidence, then it does.
Can you define "evidence" in such a way that it does not depend upon your observation of a particular circumstance? What I'm telling you is this: My reality is different from yours, and that does not make either of our realities any less, "real." You will always, I repeat, ALWAYS be able to find a "reasonable" explanation for all of my magick tricks becuase your mind will not allow magick into your reality. Your mind will make my magick appear as an illusion, because it would shatter your world to see magick actually happen.

If I expect life to give me a Mercedes, I get one?
If you abolish all doubt that such a thing isn't possible, and regularly put positive thought/feeling into your having a Mercedes, then yes.

Now you are contradicting yourself.
It works that way. Let's agree to disagree until we can go deeper into this.

Excellent. Will you be tested for this, also?
Yes, if I'm tested I'll be looking for this to happen.

You were crystal clear about being able to see a ghost:

Don't contradict yourself. You will get caught.
They're not all ghosts, that's all I'm saying. I don't yet know how to tell the difference; all I see are bodies of light.

If you don't cheat, why would you have to think about being tested under controlled conditions?
It's a waste of your time if I know that the conditions under which I will be asked to perform will yield no results. What your organization seems to be seeking is verification of supernatural phenomenon, and I'm offerring you a way of verifying that.

Which magick masters have you read?
First and foremost, the Tao Te Ching; the teachings of Buddha, endless books on shamanism including Terrence Mckenna's web site, Golden Dawn, Rosicrucian, Enochian & Kabbalah magick; Helena Blavatsky (including her pupils), Aleister Crowley, Levi, Ibn Arabi, Zoroaster, etc...

This list could go on and on. My favorite book for teaching magick to people will always be, Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain.

But they all say that, too. Why should I read your book?
I don't know why. Tell me more about what you've read, and most importantly what you are at odds with in the teachings that you have read, and I can direct you towards the teachings that will help you take the next step. Personally, I would start you with the Golden Dawn teaching; Liber 9 will get you started in the correct direction. Reading shamanism along side magickal studies will help you to shift your assemblage point to where it needs to be, otherwise your attempts will seem fruitless. (I use the Golden Dawn not because it is the best, but because it is widely available on the internet).

Like what?
Even the books of Aleister Crowley can spell it out for you if you take a critical approach to researching the techniques and results of magickal workings. From what I've seen you ask, you're approaching this conversation as if you had no prior knowledge of how magick works. Your questions about, time are a dead give away, for instance. No one who knows the first thing about the other side would question the non-linear time aspect of that dimension; it's one of the first things you learn about, and certainly the first thing you notice when you step into that dimension. In books on real magick this is explained in detail, because you have to understand how to move around in a dimension with no linear time.

If you have done your research into magick, my apologies for the assumption that you have not. During our discussion, though, I'm explaining a lot to you that is explained completely in the elementary books on the subject.

Of course I would scrutinize it! Why do you see that as a problem?
This goes into the "assemblage point" conversation. What I'm telling you is that you have to make a shift in the way you assemble reality in your mind in order for you to not ignore what it is I would be showing you.

Bull. Magick is not science. Don't try to prop up your claims by calling what you do "science".
It's science to me, becuase I understand the forces at work, recognize them for their characteristics, and know how to manipulate them. It is not science to you becuase you do not recognize these forces, or even acknowledge their existence. We are on two different levels of understanding concerning the topic of magick.

Don't give me this condescending "Oh, you wouldn't be able to see it anyway" crap. Don't you understand that, if you were able to do what you claim to be able to do, it would be evident? There would not be any need for interpretation, it would be clear as day.
Don't you understand that "reality is an illusion," is the important aspect of this conundrum you are facing in regards to understanding the visible aspects of magickal workings? In your reality there is no magick - there is a reasonable explanation for everything that happens; this is an illusion created by your mind. If you want to see magick, either you or the person performing the magick must take you OUT of that mode of thinking and put you INTO a mode of thinking that will allow you to see something magickal happen and not have your mind rearrange the appearance of the situation in order to convince you that there is a reasonable explanation for it. This is called, "shifting the assemblage point," in shamanism.

You even admit it here:

There you go! If it is unmistakeable, then you can do it under controlled conditions.
I have shifted my assemblage point, and therefore can see things that you can not. That is what is being "verified" by my abilities to see ghosts.

Nonsense. Either you can do it, or you can't.
Another example of why I asked you, "have you done your research into magick," because this is the reason why witches work in covens - you need to be in the presence of people who are not projecting doubt into the mix. Magick 101.

Then how do you know they have these abilities??
They are educating people here on Earth as to how to attain these powers. For an example, see the Teaching of Abraham (Jerry and Esther Hicks), or The Temple of The Presence; both of these schools of thought are examples of spirits from the other side educating people on Earth as to how they can use their abilities. These are both examples of souls who have learned the lessons here on Earth, and returned to communicate their lessons with us.

Ah, you believe in reincarnation, too.
I have knowledge of reincarnation that was acquired through my explorations of the other dimensions. When you take reincarnation into account, the whole idea of reality begins to make more sense.

Who were they? Names, please.
We'll start with Saint Germain.

http://www.sacred-texts.com/sro/csg/index.htm

I have read quite a bit, thank you very much. Now, I need to see it.
Please let me know what magickal systems you understand well through your reading, it will make my explanations to you easier to phrase becuase then I could put them into a context that you have already assembled.

Don't tell me what my path is.
Your path can be derived from the nature of your motivations. I'll keep my assumptions about you quiet, if that's what you'd like.

Show me first.

Surely, you can see why this is a reasonable demand? Before I engage in a lengthy education under your tutelage, you surely can show me that you can do what you claim to be able to do??
I beg of you to read Carlos Castaneda if you need to understand the relationship between someone who knows magick, and those that do not believe in it. It all goes back to the assemblage point, and how you construct the reality you are experiencing. The first thing that I have to do is shift your assemblage point, which is why I mentioned the meditation. Success with the meditation will cause a small shift in your assemblage point, and then you will be able to see things differently. After that, you might not even need to see anything that I have to show you!

Ah, so God is a sentient being?
God is a sentient being; just as we are, but multiplied by infinity.

I am not interested in your opinion. I am interested in those physical manifestations.

Show me.
We're going to have to get into a deep discussion about the assemblage point, and how it plays in here. You keep asking the same questions, "Show me, show me, show me," and I keep saying: EVEN IF I DID, YOU WOULD NOT "SEE" IT - because what you see, and what is really happening are two different things. Life is an illusion, and the illusion is different to all of us.

Do you understand that what you are describing here is the perfect recipe for fraud?

"Suspend your rationality, and I shall show you wonders"
What if it is necessary for you to suspend your rationality in order to be freed from a mental prison that prevents you from experiencing reality? What I am proposing is that you live in an illusory world where reality behaves only as you expect it to. This is what the Buddhists are talking about, "life is an illusion." To release from the illusion you have to take some steps towards enlightenment; the latte experiment was my way of teaching you the first step, and it is a mandatory one if you are to get what you are asking. If you don't wrestle with your doubt, then you will never see magick as anything except fraud. That's the way the illusion works.

No, it is not. It is, however, HIGHLY against my beliefs in karma to signifigantly, and positively change the belief system of a person against their will by demonstrating to them something which they cannot explain given their current understanding of reality. If my audience is willing to change their belief system through their own actions then it would be different, but so far you have refused to take the first step. As a teacher, I would ask my student at this point, "what is it deep down inside of your mind that makes you afraid of accepting that there are entities, and forces, which you cannot see with your eyes?" If you examine that fear in deep meditation you will begin to wrestle with the "guardian" that protects you from seeing reality as it is. This guardian was put in place by you to protect you from the aspects of reality which frighten you, such as ghosts, and therefore block them from your view. You ignore it because at one point in time you got a glimpse of something you couldn't rationalize and it frightened you, so you block out those things you can't explain. If you shift your assemblage point, then you will face that fear head on again - seeing the frightening reality of the way things really are. Magick, just like shamanism, is about removing the fears of reality, and then accepting reality for what it is. During this process you get to see the invisible parts of reality, as well as other dimensions of reality. Your assemblage point is stuck in the position of, "reason."

Meditate daily on something that you want. When you hold the image in your head, provide it with positive, affirming energy - (which should feel, "good" like a first-kiss, or thankfullness for something you love); continue this until you get what you are meditating on - it may arrive by any means. This exercise will dislodge the assemblage point from its current position. This is step one to witnessing anything magickal. I will start a new thread concerning the topic of the assemblage point, and its importance to this discussion.

Thank you for your continued interest in this discussion.

Everything is karma? Everyone chooses their destinies in life?

There are no accidents?

If a child is drowning, or trapped in a burning house, and you were in a position to save the child, you would not do it?

Any chance of you addressing my questions in post # 115?

Everything is Karma. Everyone chooses their destinies. There are no accidents. Karma is the energy & process that causes everything to come into our lives, and we do it through the invisible forces which magick works with. This is why there are no accidents; because deep down inside everyone is wishing for what they are getting, whether it's a "good" thing or a "bad" thing, they are brining it into their reality through their thoughts - just like the technique for basic magick - what you think about constantly, and give energy to, will arrive in your reality. Period. This is known in magick as the Law of Attraction.

Learning magick is therefore learning to take Karma into your own hands to decide your fate through the use of will or intent. It is therefore the sole purpose of the magick user to live a willfull life and use karma with conscious intent.
Notice how the buddhist have the 8 fold noble path (all steps to prevent negative karma), and the Xians have the ten commandments, (rules to keep you from acquiring negative karma), and in the Carlos Castaneda books, the shamanic teacher Don Juan tells Carlos, his pupil, that shamans must live a life of impeccability - shamans can not acquire negative karma, or they can not do their work (because the energy needed to do magick is the same energy which is lost from bad karma). I can expand on this if it's not clear to you.

The "Heaven" of the Xians, and the "Enlightenment" of the Buddha are both the same thing (in my belief system); Heaven is not a place, but a state of being which allows one to perceive complete reality. It is during the state of enlightenment that one will, "see God," or "see the Heavens." The only thing that changes is your perception. You change your perception by shifting your assemblage point, which is fixed into it's current position by your karma.

If a child is drowning, I would help.

The path that Carlos Castanada gradually explains, through 8 or more books, is mostly a description of how to conserve energy. According to the books,, it takes all the guts we can muster to handle a life without indulgence...which is what ultimately allows us to percieve alternate realities...and even act within them as conscious entities.

Its some juicy philosophy, to be sure...and the idea of the assembledge point takes it beyond a sequential reference point, as is the folly of reincarnation. For this reason, and others, I find it to engulf Bhuddism, which is prone to some corruption, as per other lives.

To look for scientific evidence of the value or validity of such philosophy, is going to dissapoint. It cheapens science and philosophy to do so.
Still, some damn good reading.

Thank you for this condensed explanation of the books, that's better than I could have put it! Good job. :)

I don't exactly understand what you're saying here, though. Are you saying that it cheapens science to look for validity in the shamans' claims?

I enjoyed Carlos Castaneda's writing very much, even when I didn't understand the subject matter. Damn good reading.

Yes, I do think that can happen. It wasn't applicable in the situation I described to you, and I have tested it with other people throughout my experiences with this technique.

Why not? Why isn't it a suggestive trick?

Energy healing is real; it just requires an experienced practitioner to do it.

But that's not what you said earlier. Earlier, we had to believe in order to detect what you do.

Do try to get your story straight, OK? You are not dealing with imbeciles here.

When the client indicates they want to stop, I'll stop. I expected this reaction from this client because I was manipulating her kundalini energy, which is always going to cause a noticeable reaction. She was pleased with the results.

Can't you tell if your healing is doing harm?

Do you need to touch the client in order to detect this "energy"? Can you be, say, 10 inches away from the body?

If you knew what I knew, then you would be afraid of this: When you can "see" the invisible world, then the inhabitants of the invisible world can see that you see them. This makes them take notice of you. Now you will have TWO dimensions to pay attention to, becuase both worlds will be vying for your attention. I'm on that threshold now. The thing is, you can't stay focused on two dimensions at the same time, all of the time.

No, no, no. I didn't ask what the "inhabitants of the invisible world" would do, if you spill the beans about these magickal secrets. I asked what the members of the magickal orders would do. Those alive.

Yes, there are.

But this is exactly the same type of explanation alien abductees also give: They have seen it with their own eyes, it fits their particular belief, yet they have no evidence, and they have to demand that we believe in their claims.

Either you acknowledge that alien abductions happen, or you acknowledge that both your explanation and the explanation that alien abductees give are equally invalid. Which is it?

First attempt was a failure.

Does this in any way make you doubt that you have these abilities? When will you try again?

I'm not sure that it's possible to show you, or any skeptic.

That's simply nonsense. You have admitted that these powers of yours can be detected also by non-believers.

Anonymously through the forum I will submit to any test you like. I will not reveal my identity to you though.

How do you suggest we design a protocol that excludes cheating?

I wanted to insert my intellectual idea into the public record, prior to my attempt to access the future.

Your claims of paranormal powers are much more interesting.

It isn't, really. How do you think it is possible for me to access another person's memories?

Can you? Has it been tested? If so, how?

There are plenty of people that are practicing shamanism these days. When we attract a few more trustworthy students of shamanism to this discussion, perhaps we could arrange a group demonstration. In the end, though, we will still reach the conclusion that you don't see anything that we are seeing: ghosts, "energy," and all that woo-stuff. Aren't you interested in the techniques we use to "see"?

Let's see you do what you claim to be able to do first. Do you agree to a test, yes or no?

Can you define "evidence" in such a way that it does not depend upon your observation of a particular circumstance?

No, I'm not going to redefine "evidence". You are not going to be provided with an out for not being able to do what you claim to be able to do. You know perfectly what "evidence" means. Don't play any games.

You have to understand that your magickal tricks already work in "my" world: The person whose energies you manipulate can detect them.

If you abolish all doubt that such a thing isn't possible, and regularly put positive thought/feeling into your having a Mercedes, then yes.

Evidence? Who has gotten a Mercedes or anything tangible because of magick wishing?

It works that way. Let's agree to disagree until we can go deeper into this.

This isn't a matter of disagreeing. It's a matter of you contradicting yourself.

Yes, if I'm tested I'll be looking for this to happen.

When will you be tested?

They're not all ghosts, that's all I'm saying. I don't yet know how to tell the difference; all I see are bodies of light.

If you can't tell the difference, how do you know they are not all ghosts??

You are talking nonsense here.

It's a waste of your time if I know that the conditions under which I will be asked to perform will yield no results. What your organization seems to be seeking is verification of supernatural phenomenon, and I'm offerring you a way of verifying that.

Well, that's fine, then. If you aren't cheating, you should have no objections to being tested.

Once again, you are talking nonsense.

Even the books of Aleister Crowley can spell it out for you if you take a critical approach to researching the techniques and results of magickal workings. From what I've seen you ask, you're approaching this conversation as if you had no prior knowledge of how magick works. Your questions about, time are a dead give away, for instance. You want more? I got more. Pike, Golden Dawn, Rosicrucians, Kundalini, Trismegistus, Waite, Achad, Besant, Dee, Fuller. You name it. I got it.

What, you thought you were talking to an ignoramus?

This goes into the "assemblage point" conversation. What I'm telling you is that you have to make a shift in the way you assemble reality in your mind in order for you to not ignore what it is I would be showing you.

No, I don't. I don't have to do anything. You, on the other hand, better start providing some evidence of your paranormal powers, lest people start thinking that you are all claims and no substance.

It's science to me, becuase I understand the forces at work, recognize them for their characteristics, and know how to manipulate them. It is not science to you becuase you do not recognize these forces, or even acknowledge their existence. We are on two different levels of understanding concerning the topic of magick.

Stop calling it "science", OK? You are only confusing people when you do that.

Bull. Either you can show it, or you can't. It's that simple.

I have shifted my assemblage point, and therefore can see things that you can not. That is what is being "verified" by my abilities to see ghosts.

But that isn't "verified", either. You are once again inventing new definitions.

Another example of why I asked you, "have you done your research into magick," because this is the reason why witches work in covens - you need to be in the presence of people who are not projecting doubt into the mix. Magick 101.

See above.

This is just one more postulate from you.

I have knowledge of reincarnation that was acquired through my explorations of the other dimensions. When you take reincarnation into account, the whole idea of reality begins to make more sense.

Then, you don't have knowledge. You have what can only be described as fantasy.

We'll start with Saint Germain.

Do you think he could make diamonds? Just yes or no.

Again, you tell me of a book I should read, instead of actually showing me what you claim to be able to do.

God is a sentient being; just as we are, but multiplied by infinity.

If God is a being, show me God.

No, we don't have to get into a discussion. Just show me.

How do I tell the difference between you and a fraud, then?

So, you would only feed thousands of people by using your paranormal abilities, if they become believers in you?

Isn't that blackmailing starving people into becoming your followers?

Everything is Karma. Everyone chooses their destinies. There are no accidents. Karma is the energy & process that causes everything to come into our lives, and we do it through the invisible forces which magick works with. This is why there are no accidents; because deep down inside everyone is wishing for what they are getting, whether it's a "good" thing or a "bad" thing, they are brining it into their reality through their thoughts - just like the technique for basic magick - what you think about constantly, and give energy to, will arrive in your reality. Period. This is known in magick as the Law of Attraction.

So, Holocaust victims chose to be gassed? 9-11 victims chose to burn?

But then, you would be interfering with its karma.

Other people should also be able to follow what we say.

I know I said this on another thread, but I AM an ignoramus and I dearly appreciate translations in the form of the ones CFLarsen is providing on this thread. Without them I'd just be addressing some of these posts with the letters W, T and F.

Cheers.

MY, what a big library you have....

You are forgetting that we are not having a private conversation. We are discussing this on a public forum. Other people should also be able to follow what we say.

What, you thought you were talking to an ignoramus?

:D Quite the opposite! I feel as if I am the ignoramus. You are very articulate.

I would like to compliment you on your library. If you have read even half of those, you are more well-read in Crowley than I am! Good job sir.

No, I don't. I don't have to do anything. You, on the other hand, better start providing some evidence of your paranormal powers, lest people start thinking that you are all claims and no substance.
We're talking in a forum, and I'm not submitting myself to the MDC; the predictions of the future will be a testable, verifiable example of my "paranormal powers."

Stop calling it "science", OK? You are only confusing people when you do that.
Agree to disagree.

Bull. Either you can show it, or you can't. It's that simple.
If you would learn to shift your assemblage point, all that reading would finally pay off becuase your search for verifiable evidence of paranormal activity would find its conclusion.

But that isn't "verified", either. You are once again inventing new definitions.
So verified is something that you can do, and I can not do? I have verified my experiences on my own, in ways more complicated than you have even suggested. In short, I ALWAYS get what I want for Christmas and my birthday, and I never actually tell anyone what it is that I want. How is it not "verified," if I do the experiment myself? My woo does not get in the way of my own critical thinking, regardless of how new-age I seem to you.

This is just one more postulate from you.
Perhaps. How would YOU verify something like that? In my case, I went to Abraham personally and asked some questions. The answers I received verified TO ME that Abraham is indeed a spiritual teacher being channelled through Esther Hicks. Did you start talking to spirits since the last time we spoke? ;)

Then, you don't have knowledge. You have what can only be described as fantasy.
When does it become "knowledge" in your book? If interdimensional travel appears as nothing more than a person meditating in this world, what evidence can I give you to prove that I have been to another dimension?

Do you think he could make diamonds? Just yes or no.
Yes. :boxedin:

Again, you tell me of a book I should read, instead of actually showing me what you claim to be able to do.
Your missing my point about the assemblage point, and our discussion is circling around the assemblage point and how it effects what we "see." Since you want to "see" verification of paranormal activity, then I am telling you what you need to do in order to see it.

If God is a being, show me God.
Look around you. :)

No, we don't have to get into a discussion. Just show me.
What all do you want me to show you again? I can't move objects with my mind yet, but I'm practicing.

How do I tell the difference between you and a fraud, then?
The same way that I verified my experiences with shamanism - by jumping in. Science needs to dig deeper into the claims of shamans, and test their abilities directly. I'm new to this, but there are master shamans all around the world. Amazingly enough, despite their regional differences, most shamans say the same things about interdimensional travel and how it is to be achieved, and what you will see when you get there. Aside from hallucination, how would you explain that?

So, you would only feed thousands of people by using your paranormal abilities, if they become believers in you?

Isn't that blackmailing starving people into becoming your followers?
I don't want followers. I want you to be able to do this on your own, because it seems silly to me that you can not.

So, Holocaust victims chose to be gassed? 9-11 victims chose to burn?
You don't want to get into this conversation, and I don't want to continually defend my point of view on the matter. The answer to this question is YES, they did choose it. But, how could I prove it to you anyways, right? This is just my spiritual belief, I apologize if the my ideas offend anyone.

But then, you would be interfering with its karma.
Perhaps, but this is an opportunity for good karma as well. The reason that the MDC is an opportunity for BAD KARMA is because it is forbidden to show those that do not understand magick that magick is real, because that knowledge is power. Those that do not understand will then have the verification of magick being real, and will use that to do harm upon others. It is for this same reason that alchemist always encoded their work, hiding the true techniques in symbolism, so that anyone who stumbled on the writings would not be able to just make gold. We're not talking about something small, we're talking about magick; think of how the world would change if suddenly it wasn't "paranormal," but "NORMAL." I would be responsible, in karma, for all the good & BAD that occured because of my action(s). I'm not willing to do that.

In closure, our posts are getting LONG and way off topic. Let's concise this down to the essentials.

Original point: Shamanism & Taoism make ME happy.

..the predictions of the future will be a testable, verifiable example of my "paranormal powers."

<snip/>
So verified is something that you can do, and I can not do?

If the claim is coherent, verification (testing for truth) of the claim - NOT the phenomena - is something anyone and everyone can do

What all do you want me to show you again?

Waddaya mean again? You haven't shown (or described) anything - at least not in sufficient detail

Stop beating about the bush and simply put up, i.e. specify what it is you have to offer for the worthwhile consideration of those reading this thread

I want you to be able to do this on your own, because it seems silly to me that you can not.

I, and I imagine all others following what is increasingly looking like a troll-fest, don't want to be able to do anything, other than find out what you're on about

I'm intrigued

Are you just another low-flying wooist or do you have something/anything to warrant the bandwidth?

It is for this same reason that alchemist always encoded their work, hiding the true techniques in symbolism, so that anyone who stumbled on the writings would not be able to just make gold.

Ummm... yeah... but the 100s of human years spent using alchemy to manufacture gold were a complete and utter waste of time (at least in terms of realising the objective)

Is all that you have to offer just 'smoke and mirrors', too?

Original point: Shamanism & Taoism make ME happy.

OK

Simple is good

How do you know that it is the Shamanism & Taoism that makes you happy?

Please, be concise and avoid 'personal' references to Shamanism & Taoism, instead cite observations that are repeatable and testable etc by anyone

Why do you say that Buddha is magick?

Because he has no idea what he is talking about. His ethical stance on feeding starving people speaks for itself.

Thoth this whole idea of it being the fault of people starving to death that they are starving to death is simply selfishness masquerading as a 'higher understanding'.

There are no enlightened states only enlightened actions. It doesn't matter how 'high' you get through your 'magickally' induced delusions you will always come down and end up back in this 'mundane' reality where people hurt and cry and suffer. And you should ask yourself why that is.

Why is it that no matter how hard you try you will always sober up and crash back down into the mundane world of ordinary existence?

Maybe it's because that's where you really want to be.

'Mundane' reality doesn't care about the magickal fantasies you've created for yourself in your head but it is a reality where you can make a tangible difference to improving the lives of others through charity and acts of goodwill.

What all do you want me to show you again? I can't move objects with my mind yet, but I'm practicing.

Strange because I swear you said that telekinesis was 'mere' iddhi or low level magick. Surely for someone who's acheived interdimensional travel something as simple as iddhi would be a breeze no? I wonder why it's so much harder for you to affect the real world with your 'magick' than it is to experience intense closed eye hallucinations while meditating. hmmm.

And another thing while I'm ranting: Your claim that Shamanism and Taoism make you happy seems doubtful. If you really were happy (or content) with the way your ordinary life is then why would you try so hard to leave it behind in a quest to explore other dimensions etc? Humans have a huge number of ways of avoiding having to face reality: drugs and religious fantasies being two of them.

" And though it is like this, it is only that flowers, while loved, fall; and weeds while hated flourish."
Dogen

Just thought I'd throw in a favourite Buddhist soundbite. It has some relevance I think to the wishful thinking being displayed on your part Thoth.

In defense of the concept of alternate states of awareness, complete with alternate perceptions and alternate laws:

If the claimed access to such alternate universes was through a rigorous discipline, including much sitting in silence, then how would it be possible to demonstrate said other realms unless the observer was there too? It wouldn't be something one person could prove to skeptic, unless the skeptic was willing to do the whole song and dance.

This is why i think that these arguments cheapen good philosophy.
Science deals in verifiable evidence, as juried by peers. Scientists aren't likely to go looking for magic. Its not of their realm. It does not exist.

You've said a lot here that I have to agree with. It is almost impossible, I'm finding, to demonstrate to anyone that interdimensional travel is taking place. The best way is to toss them into the pool, and then when they come back discuss what they've seen and compare it with what others have seen. Between my friends and I this was the first verification that "hallucinations" and "visions" were not imagined. How do you show someone else who is not willing to look for themselves?

Nothing much happens to someone's physical body during an OBE, or interdimensional travel; you don't take your body with you. Since science can not see "consciousness," and that is the part of you that is travelling, then what is verifiable? There is nothing tangible for science to measure, observe, or otherwise "see."

It may cheapen science and philosphy to study these things, or attempt to study them, but it NEEDS to happen in my opinion. I have people asking my opinion of their paranormal experiences all day, and more and more people are showing an interest in pursuing these experiences deeper. Science tells them that their experiences are bogus, or worse yet that they are hallucinating, or sufferring from a mental "illness." So, when someone sees ghosts and tells their psychiatrist, they get a prescription, when what they might need is an understanding of what they're seeing. This is why I've started opening up about my experiences. There are ghosts, and I assert that from my own experience and understanding of reality, and although I can't prove it through the methods of science YET, I can explain in clear terms how anyone can heighten their own perception in order to see ghosts as well; this is the best way I know to verify the experience to someone - PUSH THEM INTO THE POOL.
Scientists aren't likely to go looking for magic. Its not of their realm. It does not exist.
This is exactly what I'm saying. The assemblage point is what shamans say is the cause of this; since it is through the assemblage point that each person assembles their reality. This knocks science on it's A** though, because it leaves them with no physical evidence to build a theory from, only personal experience. If a scientist is willing to learn the techniques of shamanism's interdimensional travel, and speak of his/her's experience with it, would this be a step towards verification? I think quite often that people think me mad because I say, "I have travelled outside of my body," or, "I have been to another dimension," but how would I say such things and NOT SEEM MAD if such things are true?

That's why I'm here, getting beat down by all the smart people for my lack of verifiable proof. There is a way, somehow, to verify the reality of what I'm talking about and only through intelligent discussion and an honest exchange of ideas and experience will it yield itself to us for the betterment of humanity.

Plato's metaphor of The Cave is an excellent companion to what I'm saying... I found that while reading Terrence Mckenna's website, so I assume that he went through the same issues as he was discussing his experiences with others!

Thanks for the reply Quarky!

Right so finally you agree with us. Magic doesn't exist except for in your own imagination! Well done.

Thoth it's very easy for two or more people to hallucinate the same thing. In fact these altered states of conciousness that you're describing are indeed fairly universal and can be reached using various means but in no way does this count as evidence for anything magical going on. Brains regardless of whose heads they are in act largely the same when put into similar conditions. That's all. Unless you can come back form these states with some kind of objectively verifiable evidence that you really were somewhere else (like coming back with knowledge of the future etc.), then you are just delusional.

Btw. How's the iddhi coming along? ;)
