Netanyahu accepts Palestinian State!

Israel is willing to allow the Palestinian Police to field these APC's in support of their battalions of "Police" troops.
I see no reason that the "Police" need heavy machine guns mounted.

The RUC who had a lot of experence of trying to police problematical areas would beg to differ:

The Brazilain police use heavy machine guns but not mounted since Favela roads tend to be a bit to narrow to allow that.

The Palestinians want the APC's? Then drop the demand for machine guns.
It's very simple.
As I pointed out in my previous post, we Israelis are not idiots.
We know exactly who we're dealing with.

So do the palestinians. In terms of weight and firepower design is little different from the humber pigs that were fitted with shorland turrets.

geni, are you suggesting that the Palestinian Police would turn these machine guns on their own people?

Sure. The PLO lost gaza to hamas. They will not want to lose the west bank.

A "state" that has no right to self-defense, no right to control its airspace, and no right to its natural resources is not an independent state in any meaningful sense of the term.

A state controlled by terrorists.

Hey, look who's back.

This means we have two weeks till the third stooge reactivates.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

Please remember to keep it civil and on topic. Thank you.

But because the Palestinians, unlike the Egyptians and Jordanians, are not fighting Israel to get territory -- they are trying to get territory to fight Israel, per the "staged plan" for its eradication.

Do you really believe this? That's like accusing the Tasmanians of attempting to exterminate the Australians, so they deserved what they got.

Why not, since it's openly stated in the Hamas charter...

This Covenant of the Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS), clarifies its picture, reveals its identity, outlines its stand, explains its aims, speaks about its hopes, and calls for its support, adoption and joining its ranks. Our struggle against the Jews is very great and very serious. It needs all sincere efforts. It is a step that inevitably should be followed by other steps. The Movement is but one squadron that should be supported by more and more squadrons from this vast Arab and Islamic world, until the enemy is vanquished and Allah's victory is realised.

Moreover, if the links have been distant from each other and if obstacles, placed by those who are the lackeys of Zionism in the way of the fighters obstructed the continuation of the struggle, the Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realisation of Allah's promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said:

"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Moslem).

What's the deal with this? The PLO has since long recognized Israel as a state. Why should they now recognize Israel as "the Jewish homeland" or as "the Jewish state" or as "the state of the Jewish people"? To quote Uri Avnery on the latter:

That was before Netanyahu's speech yesterday. What did he say in his speech?

So, which is it? Homeland of the Jewish People or Jewish state or something else? And why, for God's sake, does it matter one iota?

Palestinian leaders need to acknowledge Israel is a Jewish state because of years of Arabs being instructed, almost from birth, that Israel is not a legitimate "entity" and that all of Palestine, including Israel, belongs to them. Last time I checked, Israel was not even represented in maps in Arab school books. It's now culturally accepted that Israel--all of Israel--constitutes occupied Palestinian land. Palestinian leaders conceding Israel as a Jewish state will serve to help stamp out the notion of Israel's illegitimacy. Given the very term "Palestinian" is a fiction when applied to Arabs and Israeli leaders refer to them by the fictional term they prefer, it doesn't seem unreasonable that the so-called Palestinians reciprocate by referring to Israel as the Jewish state.

Ah yes, the maps issue. I'm not even going to discuss that now, because it's utterly irrelevant. You didn't address why Palestinians would have to accept Israel as a Jewish state. The PLO has recognized Israel as a state. Period. Whatever state it is, is enough to put it with the Arabs on the map, literally and figuratively.

Neither did you address the ramifications for the Israeli Arabs that Uri Avnery mentioned. To put it bluntly: it would give Lieberman a perfectly valid reason to put every Israeli Arab on the train to Auschwitz on the bus over the Allenby bridge.

I believe I just did. Should be EZ to understand.

Not in their Charter. Period.

You mean the Israeli Arabs that wish Israel were never created? Seems only humane to escort them out of the country they despise so much.

UN Resolution 181 calls for dividing Palestine into a Jewish State (Israel) and an Arab State (Palestine). The Palestinians now claim to support this resolution, which means they accept the creation of a Jewish state.

Am I wrong here?

Why are the Arab states of Syria, Egypt, Libya, and Sudan acceptable, and the Islamic Republics of Iran and Afghanistan okee dokee..but the Jewish State of Israel is no good?

how about the Czech Republic? also taboo?

if a "Jewish State" is inherently discriminatory, then I want the aforementioned republics also abolished.

furthermore, the PLO Charter refers to Palestine as an integral park of the Arab homeland. What does this say about those Palestinians of Circassian, Bosnian, Berber, and Kurdish descent? Will you demand that any new Palestinian state NOT refer to itself as an "Arab" state?

Ah, yes, those unfortunate maps. Even more unfortunate, the hatred of Israel imbued in school books poisoning the minds of so-called Palestinian children. Maybe "irrelevant" to you, but, quite pertinent to now-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who condemned the anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish propaganda espoused in text books, including the absence of Israel in maps, in so-called Palestinian schools, which Ms. Clinton described as tantamount to child abuse...

"Hillary Clinton skeptical Abbas will make sufficient peace partner"...

Democratic senator and presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton expressed skepticism to The Jerusalem Post Thursday that the much-lauded Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas could be a partner for peace given that his administration had issued textbooks inciting hatred against Israel.

"There are no good options," she said when queried by the Jerusalem Post about his leadership minutes after condemning the hatred and violence in new Palestinian textbooks, which she described as having negative "consequences for the prospects for peace."

At a press conference about the textbooks, Clinton condemned as "child abuse" the "glorification of death and violence" presented to young readers of the volumes.

So, yes, so-called Palestinians can definitely benefit from a thorough reality check coming from their esteemed leaders that Israel not only exists, but, that Israel exists as a Jewish state. Might be a hard pill to swallow, at first, however, they'll feel better in the morning.

to be fare, various Israeli organizations show Israel including the West Bank, even though Israel has not annexed the West Bank.

double-standards are stupid.

It's so easy to score points with you. The school books used by the PA are of Jordanian origin, and their use has been approved by the Israeli government.

What's "EZ"? And no, you didn't.

So what? The PLO doesn't recognize, say, the USA as a state in their Charter either. Last I looked, the US constitution doesn't state that the USA recognizes any state either. An utterly irrelevant argument.

You mean the Israeli Arabs that wish Israel were never created? Seems only humane to escort them out of the country they despise so much.
It's as if I read it straight from the racist's (Lieberman's) mouth. Do you have any evidence for your assertions?

I'm sure many Native Americans and African Americans wish the USA was never created.

Our creation has meant their ancestors a ******** of pain and suffering.

Should we ship them out as well?

There is a simple distinction Parky. To me, any nation needs to be the "home of its citizens" in order to be regarded as a modern democracy. Can you point out the different classes of citizens in the Czech republic?

Home of "the Jews" home of "the whites" please explain to me the difference again?

What's "EZ"? And no, you didn't.

Reading is fundamental. I'm afraid I cannot spoon-feed basic concepts.

So what? The PLO Charter doesn't claim rights to all US territory. Reading is fundamental--Try reading the PLO Charter before posting next time.

It's as if I read from a clueless mouth.
