I tried to find an image but none are on the news yet. There was mention of a molar and it's the lower jaw. If we could see a picture it would likely be more obvious, human or not.

Not too many species have lower jaw bones with human looking molars that aren't of the primate species.
 
Reports are that it is the jawbone of a younger white female. The molar tells them that it's from a 'white' person, or person of European ancestry, and the 'middle' for lack of a better term, tells them it's a female, lacking the two bumps men have.

Interesting science at work.

I thought it was women who had the two bumps?
 
the technical term would be the 'body' of the mandible, which shows greater rugosity in males. It's not perfect, there's enough overlap between the sexes that it could be a very gracile male--but sex determination from skeletons is getting pretty good now.

I'd like to tag this thread, but as yet neither the OP nor the comments make it clear what this thread is actually about. I've looked in on it several times, hoping the comments would make clear what the OP doesn't, but that's still not the case.

I'm guessing that it's likely about a missing persons case, possibly one in which a psychic made some way-off statements about what had happened to the victim or where the victim might be located. But I can't base thread tags on my guesses.

Nor can I base thread tags on articles which are linked but not summarized, such as the one in the OP. Links expire. If understanding what a thread is about depends on reading what's at a link, then once the link has expired the thread will be largely incomprehensible.

If you (or someone else) could elaborate on Nancy Grace's connection to this case I'd appreciate it. (And if others posting in this thread would also care to elaborate on what it is they're saying, that would also be helpful.)

If the intention is to have a thread which is only meaningful right now, while whatever news story this thread is based on is fresh in the minds of people taking part in the thread, that's fine and I'll be quite willing to leave the thread untagged. But if this is a topic and a discussion which people might be interested in reviewing at some future date, then being able to tag it -- and having content in it which will be comprehensible at a future date if the linked news story is no longer available -- would be good.

The connection is that Nancy Grace was one of those "news people" that jumped on the "missing white girl" bandwagon and provided lots of coverage on Holloway's disappearance. Grace is also an attention whore; it seems she will say anything for ratings. Think of Jerry Springer with fewer words bleeped out.

Watching Naci Grace is horrible for most any critical thinker. Even when she's arrived at the correct conclusion, she's got there with horrible reasoning. She also likes to reference how she was a prosecutor but avoids mentioning why that isn't the case any longer. Hint: It has something to do with how many cases got thrown out and overturned.

Failed prosecutor? N.G. never lost a case in the courtroom. That two of her convictions were overturned on appeal is more about the presiding judge in those cases. You think that N.G. became a highly paid cable show host because she couldn't be a prosecutor any longer? What?

Thank you. That's a good and clear explanation of who Nancy Grace is and her connection to this.

It also confirms what I had guessed (but which was not stated clearly enough to justify a tag, prior to your post) -- that this is about a missing person's case and that the missing person was Natalee Holloway. Again, thanks!
