@nal bleaching - medically dangerous?

Helloooo...

The trend for "intimate" cosmetic surgery has reached the point where not only are women undergoing labia reshaping and vagina "tightening" but now anal bleaching is on the cards.

I don't often have call to look at mine, to be fair, so have no idea what colour it is/should be. While surgery itself is a risky business, I cannot accept that bleaching your skin is a) healthy or b) safe. Is it the same kinds of chemicals they used on Michael Jackson? *shudder* Scary thought.

While trying to do some research on this topic, I have had some difficulty. Certain words on a seacrh engine can ruin your day! ;)

So, would you? Could you? Do you think it would be more attractive? Any links, much appreciated.

Apparently this is very popular in the US - known as an "Armani Punani" - catchy, eh?

What do you mean, rainbow colours like a Baboon? This is the weirdest thing I've ever heard of. If you manage to find a link can you post it.

No, bleaching, to literally have a "lilly-white ass" - porn actresses etc etc...

I'm still looking for a clinic that advertises the service.

This topic follows on from a recent article in VOGUE.

I can't see this from work - the firewall kicks in - is it helpful? :D

Chicks are weird! Call me sexist if you like, but I just don't understand them. They're weird. Really, really weird.

There's another article in the New York Observer, and some rumblings that it may all be a hoax. Apparently the stories started because of rumours that Courtney Cox and Lara Flynn Boyle had the treatment.

My reading of that is that the procedure is real, the LFB part is hoax?

Where does the vanity end?

Would you prefer a non chocolate starfish? Do you even notice??

Lilly-

The last paragraph of that article says:

Doonan [a journalist for The New York Observer] appears to be exaggerating when we says "Web sites focus instead on bleaching tips, as if sharing ingredients for an apple-pie recipe." The only instance he mentions, and the only instance I found via Google, is an "Anal Advisor" column by Tristan Taormino answering a reader question, "Is there any way of making my anus more pink or lighter in color? Mine is dark and I hate it — any suggestions?" This column doesn't exactly offer "bleaching tips." Taormino mentions some products commonly used to bleach skin, but firmly advises against using those products on your anus. If there are other websites sharing tips and ingredients for do-it-yourself anal bleaching, I couldn't find them via Google.

All sounds like an urban legend to me. (Mar 2003)

Well, maybe. All I can say is that people are daft enough to do anything.

Tis indeed vanity gone mad, but then again, IMO so is having your labia altered.

Is this one of the "lowering the tone" posts, do you think?

And again I ask - are the same chemicals used for facial skin bleaching?

richard, thanks for the info - :) You're a star. Vogue seemed to think it was a growing trend.

I am deeply saddened to learn that this may be a hoax. For indeed, I am one of those unfortunate individuals who suffer from excessive sphincter-area pigmentation.
I will refrain from relating tales of the horror and embarrassment this condition has exposed me to. Rest assured that I am a social cripple as a result, afraid to enter into any situation where my condition might be...exposed.
The lost opportunities, the ridicule, the humiliation....A sordid essay of events, I assure you.
And to have my hopes raised, and then so dashed; curses, I say, curses!

I'm shocked to hear that you are one of those...freaks. On on this board of all places. Get out, and never come back, you abomination of nature, you!!!!!

Actually

A similar question showed up in the Playboy Advisor. Basicly how come porn star's @## weren't a darker color like everyone elses. The advisor answered with 1 word.

Makeup.

Personally, I have to wonder why anyone would care.

Somehow, the idea of anal makeup is even more disturbing than anal bleaching.
Can you see the young lady at the clinque counter....?
