David Cameron has apparently called for the Conservative party to get rid of nonsensical Health & Safety laws. Maybe he should have consulted this useful website rather than just listening to the outraged tabloids?

The problem I have with the HSE's attempts at mythbusting is that they're generally so badly done. They don't state what the myth was, they don't state what the actual regulation is, and they don't explain what the difference is between myth and reality. A statement like, for example, "There's no reason why health and safety should stop schools carrying out science experiments" (from this month's myth) is no more than a platitude, and is quite distinct from a statement that health and safety regulations actually won't stop schools carrying out science experiments. I think there are at least a few dozen posters here who could do a much better job.

This is not aimed at the HSE who are generally pretty clued up on the law, the reason for the law and the ethics of business.
The problem I have with HSE regulation is the swapping of the cart with the horse in order to "achieve standard approval " and " attain targets".

First , create the infrastructure. Then create the rules. There is no sense requiring someone to segregate his rubbish if the authorities then dump it all in the same landfill.

Dig all the holes first.

Actually just read Cameron's speech and it more of a lambasting of "compensation culture" than the HSE.

I agree it is more about the "compensation culture" so I wonder will he be willing to do anything about it, I suspect not.
