Mythbusters vs the Moon Hoax tonight!

If it is a newer DVR you should be able to record it to a DVD burner.
If you can connect it to a VCR you should be able to connect it to a DVD recorderr.
I have a DISH Network 722 and it has a USB port so I can connect an external Harddrive.
That may be another option your DVR has but YMMV.

Thanks! I'll check that out. One of my more tech-savvy friends promised to make the video available already, though, from his setup.

Yeah, that ep was awesome! I think the point about the reflectors being put there by astronauts is that they pointed at the Apollo 15 lander site and there was the reflector. And it's used regularly by scientists who are using them to test general relativity! I know, I know, they are being paid off by the government conspirators, too :p

I think the show achieved its goal of presenting a nice rebuttal to all the moon hoax tv specials that are biased towards the conspiracies.

Aparently, no because they missed the part about the lunar reflectors. Any conspiracy theorists will point out that you can use a lunar reflector that was placed by the Soviets. True it greatly complicates the conspiracy but the Mythbusters neglected that fact. Though now I remember that there was a difference between the Lundstok and Apollo reflectors. I don't remember what though.

So the soviets left lunar reflectors in the exact spot that Apollo landed?
No but the fact that lunar reflectors are not exactly that hard to get up there without human intervention is not particularly strong evidence nor is the smoking gun. A robot (In the loosest of terms) could leave them up there just as easily as two guys could. Sure it makes the conspiracy stupidity a thousand times more convoluted but that's never stopped anyone before.

In other words the argument would be that they placed on there with a robot instead of by men? Doesn't seem like much of a challenge. I think the jist of the conspiracy argument is simply that we didn't have the technology to get to the moon. If we can send stuff to the moon even without men, it's really not much of a big deal to get a man there in those vehicles.

The fact that we got to the moon in any shape or form puts a damper on the conspiracy theories.

ETA: I would also have liked to see them address the fact that whenever dust is kicked up by an astronaut or by the rover it immediately falls back to the surface with no lingering dust cloud. That could only happen in a vacuum and there's no vacuum chamber large enough to fake the entire landing area.
Then there's the fact that anyone familiar with filmmaking knows that convincingly simulating bright, outdoor-like lighting on a soundstage is virtually impossible. If you have more than one strong light source you have more than one shadow. I don't see multiple shadows on any of the moonwalk photos.

Yes, but they gave great responses to some of the most popular photography and video criticisms of conspiracy theorists so that neutral folks can watch that and go, "ooooh, that IS really hard to fake! Those other programs didn't show that."

And, also, I sat there with my imaginary tinfoil hat and kept thinking, "well, a true believer in the conspiracies would obviously think this, or refute that" throughout most of the show. But to average viewer it's "wow! they put reflectors on the Moon and we can measure the reflections, how cool is that!!"

(Okay, that's slightly nerdier than the average viewer, you get my point...)

I think the average viewer just drools and lets the imagry wash over him, regardless of content.

Wha..? Whaddaya mean "I should know"?? And what's the bib I wear while watchin' TV gotta do with this??

;)

Or you know the fact that they droped a hammer and a feather at the same time.:) Check the website they handled this on a webisode. The fact that footage exisists makes anyone who thinks the moonlanding is fake even stupider.

Adam's explanation was essential though. They faked the pictures in a way that the people who claimed the pictures were fakes was impossible and by thier fakery they prove that the pictures are legit.
EDIT:
I just realized you were talking about the video footage and the vomet comet. I think that was the best quote from Jamie,"This is a first even for me."

Anyone know when it's due to air in the UK?

What he said, except VERY LOUDLY!

Mythbusters is the only TV programme I make any effort to watch, and I sooooo want to watch this one. Does it have an acknowledgement to Phil Plait (who is the Bad Astronomer, if you didn't already know) in the credits? Huh? Huh? Huh?

DiscoveryChannel.uk makes it look like you guys are a half-season behind.

But it's making the rounds on the torrent sites. Search "Mythbusters S06E10" on Mininova or Pirate Bay and you'll find a copy with a massive amount of seeders.

Missed it, damn it.
But I still think the best method of dealing with the Moonbats is the Buzz Aldrin method....
