Didn't see it posted here yet, but on tonight's (27 August) new episode of the Mythbusters the team takes on the various "We didn't go to the Moon" myths. IIRC Adam Savage mentioned this at TAM and was excited to be doing it.

9 PM Eastern, 8 Central.

Here's a stupid question. I'm new to DVR (welcome to the 21st century, har har) and want to make a copy to lend to someone else who is going to miss it. What's an easy way to do that? There's an option to record to VCR, but I'd rather not hand her a darn VHS.
 
I'm really looking forward to this. I know the Mythbusters have sort of said they have a distaste for woo topics (or something to that effect) but maybe this represents a turning point for the show. Wouldn't it be funny, though, if they came out in favor of the whole hoax thing! (Or at least said it was "plausible.")

If it is a newer DVR you should be able to record it to a DVD burner.
If you can connect it to a VCR you should be able to connect it to a DVD recorderr.
I have a DISH Network 722 and it has a USB port so I can connect an external Harddrive.
That may be another option your DVR has but YMMV.

Adam just described the "space suit" he owns. It wasn't accurate enough for his taste so he altered it. Made me ROFLMAO since I was there for his TAM speech on the Maltese Falcon.
 
I'm assuming the CTer response will be "you notice they did all the tests at NASA and military bases." :rolleyes:

But yeah, this show is awesome.
 
I really liked the bouncing photons off the moon to get reflections from the man made stuff left behind. Pretty much puts a nail in the coffin of that one. Also, following this episode is going to be a motherlode of stundies.

I believe that anyone who thinks we didn't land on the moon is a moron. That being said the fact that there is mirrors on the moon is the least credible of evidence because (correct me if Im wrong) the first retroreflectors were on the moon before man set on the moon. I don't think the Mythbusters knew about the Soviet retroreflectors because that is always the same counter that the conspiracy loons bring up when presented with that evidence.

Quite honestly Im surprised. It was one of their better episodes namely for the fact that they decided to test how it feels to walk in 1/16th gravity. I love how Adam's response was essentially," We faked the pictures in a way that you said was impossible."

It was a pretty good show overall. When they were testing the non-parallel shadows, I think the photo they were looking at had more to do with it being a wide angle lens than with topography. The foreground rocks looked to be maybe a few yards away, while the lander was at least 40 yards away. They didn't reproduce those relative distances on their tabletop model.

ETA: I would also have liked to see them address the fact that whenever dust is kicked up by an astronaut or by the rover it immediately falls back to the surface with no lingering dust cloud. That could only happen in a vacuum and there's no vacuum chamber large enough to fake the entire landing area.

You are right about that. I had another complaint about the Lunar Rover model. That yellowish substance on the outside of the lunar module is really reflective to the point were it could have been another source of light.
 
Sadly, I missed this one, but I understand that it didn't feature any scenes of Joe Rogan being boiled in his own bool-*****, so I'm ambivalent. And correspondingly wiggly.
 
They mentioned other experiments which they didn't have time to show, but I can't find them on Discovery Channel's website. Just the stupid preview ad. :mad:
 
I love how a few times they addressed the possible rebuttals of the CT'ers to their results.
I liked also how after they busted the flag myth they commented:
"ok now NASA will finally let us out".
And in the end Adam or Jamie commented
"ok you can give it a rest now"
