Myanmar's Unnoticed Struggle for Freedom

I read a CNN article today that mentioned a Burmese blogger based in London who's been getting information and pictures on the protests there. The blog is here -- http://ko-htike.blogspot.com/

The Burmese government has now cut off their country's internet access.

Let's face it,folks, moral persuasion and economic sanctions ain't gonna work with this bunch of goons.
They would be willing to see the people of Burma starve rather then give up power.

Wow, didn't notice this thread before now.

Burma's struggles may have been unnoticed by the general Westerner, but it hasn't escaped my notice. I'm really glad this struggle has finally become popular with the media, all thanks to the great pictures of protesting, and bloody, monks.

It's a great move by the monks, because the Burmese authorities are now in a lose-lose situation. The authorities have used religion since they came into power, and love to make themselves look pious and religious, but that has now turned against them. They can't give in to the protestors, and they can't massacre monks - if they do, they'll have the entire population against them. There are reports from several Burmese cities that soldiers have laid down their arms and refused to open fire on monks.

I'll be watching this development in Burma with both eyes, together with my Burmese friends.

Free Burma now!
