My new Question

Kumar said:
Zep, thanks. Can it be true with other rays/radiations than Sun rays? I mean, is it possible that our body can get some beneficial effects from other rays/radiations than the Sun Rays(directly or indirectly)? Indirectly, it may mean that the tissue damage(may be only weak tissues) can be a beneficial effect .
As far as I'm aware, the vast majority of radiation we experience comes from the sun in some form. You do know that the sun produces not just visible light but electromagnetic radiation on other wavelengths too. Not to mention nuclear radiation of various types.

Just checking...

Kumar, you do understand what "electromagnetic radiation" is? Radio, X-rays, UV, infra-red, etc, as well as visible light? What it is NOT is "cosmic rays", alpha, beta and gamma radiation, etc, which also come from the sun but in varying amounts depending on many factors.

OK, back on subject: In a personal answer to your question, anything that produces tissue damage in your body is probably not good for you long term. Although the human body normally has good recuperative powers of its own, this is not an unbreakable process and it can be beaten any number of ways (i.e. you can be seriously damaged or even killed).

Minor correction to an otherwise excellent post. Gamma rays are electromagnetic radiation. (Alpha and beta are not). And
very few alpha or beta rays come from the sun.

Beta particles are just electrons, and these are produced in cosmic ray showers, by decay of muons. Muons are produced by the decays of pions, which result from collisions between atoms in the atmosphere and the original cosmic rays. Like the rest of the universe, cosmic rays are mostly protons (hydrogen nuclei) and alphas (helium nuclei) but they do not come from the sun, and the nuclei of all elements are represented in cosmic rays.

Many many information, thanks all.

Radiation is energy that travels and spreads out as it -- visible light that comes from a lamp in house or radio waves that come from a radio station are two types of electromagnetic radiation. Other examples of EM radiation are microwaves, infrared and ultraviolet light, X-rays and gamma-rays.

Zep, thanks. Let us now conclude that there can not be any beneficial effect of cosmic rays other than Sun rays. Is it ok?

Don, about silicea/vit D link, I will inform later on. However Sil. is considered as a remedy for Rickets. It also help absorption of calcium.

Not by reputable medical practitioners.

As we have discussed many

times,

...silica is chemically inert. It cannot combine chemically with Vitamin D and calcium to cure rickets.

Treatment of rickets includes calcium, phosphorus, and Vitamin D.

Not silica.

So the answer to my question "COuld you also please indicate how "[ Some relation of Vit.D with Silicea seems to be possible by looking on the site provided by you, thanks.] " It is in no way apparent from my reading of that site." is.......

By considering the products of my febrile imagination.

Do you mean cosmic rays (in which case I believe that the sun's cosmic rays are indistinguishable from those from other stars) or electromagnetic radiation ? If it's the latter, I have certainly heard of Ultra Violet radiation being used to treat skin complaints like acne, infra red radiation being used to heat damaged muscles and microwaves being used to irradiate tumors.

If it's the former (i.e. actual cosmic rays) then I'm unaware of the beneficial effects

Don, it is mentioned;

"Silicea: Is a great suppuration and demineralization remedy, it is the great complementary remedy to all the other Schussler salts. In effect we use it for: nutrition troubles; rickets (complementary to calcarea phosphoric a and calcarea fluorica); epidermis (abscess, boil, herpes, alopecia); conjunctive tissue with resorption of all indurations; affected mucous membranes (bronchorrhea, coryza with a clear or milkish liquid); the nervous system (reduction of tonicity, weakness of the least intellectual work, and if students have headaches, it will need to be complemented with kalium phosphoricum); neuralgia."

Not mentioned in my (subject to scientific enquiry and actual research) link I think. It was in your link, but of course that's from the anecdotal school of research

Quite so, although I'm trying to keep it all within Kumar's grasp as we go along.

Only in a very broad sense, and only if you are talking about the human body. And I would not "conclude" that sort of thing at all - we may find (or there may even be good evidence today) that this is not a true statement after all.

But if you are indeed referring to actual cosmic rays as properly understood by science then what I would only say myself is that the evidence so far supports that statement.

However I do hope you are not suggesting that cosmic radiation, or indeed any other radiation, from the sun goes directly and unhindered to the earth's surface. There are actually many other factors involved concerning dissipation, screening, effects on humans, etc, etc, that need to be taken into account.

[edit: last paragraphs fell off!]

Kumar, you were going SO well on this subject too...

There is no evidence whatsoever that this is actually valid chemistry or science at all. There are no tests, no proof, that ANY of this is valid. These people could have been making these words and theories up in their heads for all we know.

Kumar, your second para is very naughty, since you haven't indicated that you ripped it straight from a search engine. It makes me wonder whether you actually understand the answer you gave.

Thanks all for replies. I am more concerned about whatever falls on us from the sky, atmosphere etc. I can't disuss tech. details or skin pullings as you know. The theme of this topic is: If there can be any beneficial effects to us (human's living bodies) of cosmic rays/rays/radiation/waves......which come to us from the sky above us. It is claimed by several spritual systems like 'Reiki' that we gets some universal energy on learning the Reiki. Likewise other systems, whether they can have any cosmic(sky) effect. If it can be possible then I will try to link it with tissue salts. Damaging cosmic effects can also be beneficial indirectly eg. if it can damage tumor tissues & supress it---probably.

Electomagnetic (EM) radiation certainly has an effect on the human body. For a start there's sunburn and the melanomas which may result. There are also some positive effects of EM radiation including vitamin D synthesis.

I am unaware of any positive effects of cosmic rays. in large enough doses they ARE dangerous and this, combined with the effects of EM radiation (especially ultra violet) is the reason why spacesuits are shielded (though cosmic rays even penetrate the spaceship).

These claims, if indeed they have been made, have not been demonstrated scientifically and therefore should be considered suspect.

You may try to link it, but I'm afraid you have not been able to demonstrate a link.

I for example may *believe* that all diseases may be cured by wearing green socks. Before trying to discover the means by which green socks cure disease, I first have to demonstrate that they do indeed have a beneficial effect, beyond that of a placebo. I would so this by running a double blind study (presumably using both patients and researchers who were colour blind or blind) on a sufficiently large group and demonstrate that those wearing green socks enjoyed better health than those who were wearing not green - but otherwise identical socks (assuming that the groups were comparble to begin with).

IF I can demonstraet this effectiveness I can then go on to hypothesise what is causing the effect. As yet you have been unable to prove an effect or link to a peer reviewed study which demonstrates such an effect. Instead you have a "hunch" which you are looking to attach to some kind of theory from traditional or "alternative" science.

The human body does not attract or repel radiation, or alter its path.

I'm not sure how accurate you are talking here, but the bolded section is not quite correct. Any radiation that ends up having interaction (electrical, physical, etc.) with any material (yes, including the human body) will have its path altered (or, at a minimum, it's energy level effected). Of course, if you are speaking in the sense of standing near a radiation field but not in it, then I would agree.

DaveW, thanks, can you pls tell more about "(or, at a minimum, it's energy level effected)".
What will happen to the energy left on passing through the human body?

Well, to keep it a little simple, any radiation that passes through a material has a chance to interact with it. It can either be a collision or an electric field interaction (remember, though, these electric fields are only felt at extremely small distances (molecular scale distances)).

Collisions are similar in nature to those you would expect from any two solid objects, causing some energy to be transmitted to the target and some to be lost from the incident particle, which may deflect or, depending on the type of particle, the energy levels involved, the angle of incidence, etc., may just continue on the same path with a lower energy level. (Gamma radiation, not being solid matter, still may transmit energy to the target particle and may be "deflected" in the same way).

The electric field interactions are fairly similar to the physical collisions, but the energy exhange is caused through the interaction of the minute electric fields in the target and incident particles.

In each case, if the incident particle has enough energy, it may cause ionization of the target (release of one or more electrons), which is where the possible biological damage comes from.
