I was just going to post that.

They already changed the way a link to an outside news site is displayed.
It doesn't show the headline or any text from the piece linked to, you have to paste it in yourself.
It used to show the actual piece as a thumbnail

Now it won't let you put a link in the first post of a new thread, you have to paste it in to a reply or it won't display the post.

Musk says

“Just write a description in the main post and put the link in the reply. This just stops lazy linking,”
 
When he first got Twitter he said there wouldn't be any changes made without discussion with users and a vote on it.
Then it was just for blue ticks.
Now he makes changes based on his mood.

“Our algorithm tries to optimize time spent on X, so links don’t get as much attention, because there is less time spent if people click away,”

“Best thing is to post content in long form on this platform.”

In other words pay me for a subscription and get long posts.

Says the man who reposts idiotic conspiracy theories with one word, like "interesting".

TwiX is dying, users (the human ones) are fleeing, companies are eyeing departure also. Hell in the UK Reddit beating them
 
I had a twitter account, only used it a handful of times. Too much hate and trolling there. I just deactivated it yesterday and am now on BlueSky. It's refreshing. There are conservative voices there too, so it's not an echo chamber.
 
I have never had a TwiX account, nor indeed most other forms of asocial media. Though I registered on Twitter a decade ago to contact someone but that account is defunct.

Importantly there are conservative and liberal et al voices who can politely disagree rather than frothing at the mouth.
