Cont: Musk buys Twitter II

Sadly, it looks like the judge shopping is working in his favour:

Billionaire Elon Musk seems to have found a new favorite federal judge: Reed O’Connor in Fort Worth, Texas.

Musk’s social media company X has filed two major lawsuits against groups he sees as antagonists, and O’Connor is presiding over both of them, even though none of the parties is based in Texas.

So far, O’Connor has delivered stunningly pro-Musk decisions, which have gained widespread attention.

What has garnered less attention: O’Connor’s investment in Tesla, between “$15,001 and $50,000” of Tesla stock, according to his most recent publicly available financial disclosure filing.

As is your right, and as has been mentioned before by others.

But its an entirely appropriate and completely accurate insult for someone who seems to consider that his particular expertise in extremely limited areas ("I know more about manufacturing than anyone currently alive on earth") enables him to pontificate on other areas in which he has demonstrably zero knowledge.

He comes across as an ignorant bigot with delusions of grandeur, which is exactly what he is.

If the Galaxy Brain comment was inappropriate or inaccurate, I could understand where you are coming from.

But its not.

His claimed expertise. Musk has shown over and over again that you cannot accept his word on anything.

i thought galaxy brain was like mockingly saying 4d chess, where's it's making fun of people who, when presented with some pretty clear evidence the guy has said or done something stupid, imply it must be part of some master plan we can't understand because he's just so successful and somebody that successful can't be stupid. yeah, he owns starlink. why is that an i win button?

Where I originally got the phrase Galaxy Brain from (and I would be fairly confident in saying that I was the first person to apply it to Musky boy) was from reports in relation to the maths graduates who were equating idealistic models (based of difficult maths) with reality thus leading to the boneheaded decision making that caused the 2008 crash.

I'm not defending the practice... in fact what happened is a great example of why NOT to put too much stake in idealistic models. But would the model have been closer to reality if the market hadn't been intentionally manipulated into the crash?

It wasn't intentional manipulation into a crash, but rather a combination of regulatory authorities removing the prohibitions around activities known to be unduly risky and inherently bad (think Gordon Brown's "light touch regulation" or Greenspan's objectivism) combined with financial houses not having the internal control measures in place and encouraging overly risky behaviour by their employees.

All in all it's a pattern of behaviour that crops up every fifty to sixty years*, largely because those involved forget the lessons of the last crash.

*Though given that barely anything has been put in place to avoid a repeat of 2008, I'm fully expecting the next financial crash will arrive a decade or two early.

Thierry Breton is intent on protecting his EU subjects from harm by Elon Musk interviewing Donald Trump live on X.

I can't post the link from X as I think it is a breach of a rule here, but easy to find.

Here is an alternative link to the text

Meanwhile, back in the Real World, as opposed to Mushite fantasy land.

Thierry Breton, EU Internal Market Commissioner, has reminded Mush of his legal duty to stop "harmful content" from spreading on TwiX.

If you think preventing the spread of terrorist material is "using intimidation tactics against Elon Musk to shut down free speech", you are: a) a terrorist, b) insane, c) wrong, or d) all of the above.

Honestly, do you really think X should allow posts inciting meetups for violent attacks to remain on their platform?

The Musk/Trump chat is meant to be on right now (not watching, don't want to give them clicks), and Musk just tweeted that there appears to be a massive DDOS attack on X happening, and they're working on shutting it down.

So Mush has claimed, to explain the technical issues, but there is no independent confirmation of this.

his website doesn't work and he doesn't know how to conduct an interview and he went ahead and did an interview on his website.

I know that thousands of women totally depend on X to have a voice.
I read what interests me, and am delighted that Elon allows these women to have a platform.
I don't need to name them, blind Freddie knows who they are.
Other users of X are not my fascination.
