Cont: Musk buys Twitter II

Holy ****. You're defending child abuse material? I'd have thought that's one topic where there's universal agreement that child explotation is not speech. You scare me, dude.

Edited for rule 10
He's saying I'm a hypocrite for supporting the removal of child abuse material.
Other than child porn, what do you think I'm okay with removing? Go ahead, let me know.
If you're opposed to child porn, then Musk is not your guy. He has directly intervened when CSAM posters were banned.

Elon Musk Welcomes Child Sex Abuse Imagery Poster Back to Twitter

Elon Musk has role-played as a sexually curious version of his own underage son. Get a better white savior.

Child porn is a bad example both ways, since that is explicitly NOT what Musk claimed as free speech absolutism. His argument was always qualified that you should be able to post whatever doesn't break any laws. So 'but he's not allowing illegal stuff!!!111eleventeen' isn't the argument some people seem to be thinking it is.

It's easier and more correct to point out that he's not delivering even on that qualified version either.

E.g., not only 'it enables a cult' isn't illegal in the US, but depending on the cult it may actually fall under protected speech. His deciding he can unilaterally ban people talking cult stuff, is the polar opposite of what he promised.

E.g., airplane tracking was not illegal, yet he decided to crack down on that.

E.g., a court gag order on people under actual investigation for a coup was perfectly legal, people disobeying that gag order is illegal, yet Musk decided that the latter is the thing to do. Again, directly contradicting his stated stance.

I would agree with you in general, but the fact he unbanned a nazi account that posted an image from violent child porn means that he's even willing to forgive a sin I think everyone can agree should be banned if he likes the message you otherwise push.

Had he just banned child porn accounts then it would be a complete nothing, but he unbanned an account that did use child porn. Now I doubt anyone, even the people who most vocally hate Musk think he did that because of the child porn, but he did unban it, which begs the question why? Why unbanned an account that shared an image of child porn?

True enough, but it's still not the slam dunk "don't support child porn => you're not really the kind of free speech absolutist he claimed."

Additionally X => Y is not equivalent to !X => !Y. Which seems to underpin most of that argument :p

I'd say in most cases, it IS linguistic clutter. Unless it's actually crucial for some story telling reason or such, it's like feeling a need to mention I bought a baked load of bread (as opposed to an unbaked one, i.e., a lump of dough) or that Mrs Musterman was nursing a born baby (as opposed to an unborn one, i.e., a fetus,) or that I was having a LAN RTS game against my non-imaginary friend, or was having a date with my non-imaginary girlfriend.

Mind you, it's not a crime against humanity to have Edward Bulwer-Lytton level of basic writing and communication abilities. I'm (surprisingly enough;)) not proposing to persecute the mentally deficient. (We tried that, got bombed for it;))

But I also don't see why those padding words are necessary.

Is all I'm saying.

Probably. You're making my point. Left-handed people are about 10% of the population and are much more likely than the right-handed to refer to their handedness.

Now imagine if right-handedness were over 99% of the population instead of about 90% or so.

OK, so the detective is saying "Ah ha, but you see, based on the angle of the stab wound we can tell that the killer is _____"

How do you fill in that blank? Normal-handed? Non-left-handed? Either of those seem a lot more awkward to me that just "right-handed".

Is anyone making that argument?

I will even grant that, but it still seems to me like it would be extremely rare for virtually any discussion on any social media to actually need to know that kind of detail. Mind you, I don't support Musk's censoring its use, but it still seems to me like it's overused.

As a general matter, I agree with this. There is a caveat, though. If some group decides that they want to try to make a huge deal of something otherwise extremely rare where it is often relevant, it becomes dramatically less rare. As it stands, that does rather look like what has happened. Trans bashing quite looks like it has become more and more of a thing as gay bashing has become less and less of a thing, for reasons that I don't think would be on topic or directly relevant. With the rise of anti-trans hysteria, "cis" use naturally rises. It's likely even sometimes used as a part of a dismissal for the bashers, which may well be the root of the "slur" claim.

In actual TwiX related news, Mushie is cruising for a bruising after TwiX refused to remove a post falsely claiming that the former Communards singer Reverend Richard Coles is a paedophile.
The former pop star and broadcaster reported the post to the social media network, formerly and better known as Twitter, but was told it did not violate the rules.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of law....

Good piece in The Guardian about Mushie's latest misogynistic nonsense.

Every time I think Elon Musk can’t possibly sink any lower, he grabs a shovel and starts digging. In recent months, Apartheid Clyde (as he is nicknamed) has been doing his best to get Donald Trump elected by any means possible. As well as throwing money and an endorsement Trump’s way, Musk has posted multiple false election claims and reposted a fake version of Kamala Harris’s first campaign video that has been doctored to make her say she is the “ultimate diversity hire”.

When Musk isn’t meddling in politics, he’s busy posting misogynistic memes on X, the social media platform he has slowly been turning into an advertiser-haemorrhaging cesspool of hate. He’s posted an extraordinary amount of unhinged content in the past, but last Sunday he really outdid himself: the billionaire reposted a tweet from “Autism Capital” that suggested that “women and low T men” are not able to think freely because they “can’t defend themselves physically”. The only people who can think freely are “high T alpha males and aneurotypical people ... this is why a Republic of high status males is best for decision making. Democratic, but a democracy only for those who are free to think.”

So what did Musk write in response to this wildly sexist post that originally appeared on 4chan, the far-right messaging board that has been described as the “blueprint for white supremacist groups”? He wrote: “Interesting observation.”

If it weren't for the immense amount of fallout damage it would be entertaining to see Musk in Trump's government.

Two spoiled manchildren, surrounded by sycophants and yes-men/women for their entire life, both utterly unable to admit they make mistakes or are in over their heads in a position where they will inevitably point their fingers at each other over simple mistakes anyone capable would have avoided.

Just add to the "******* creepy and weird things Musk says" list, here he is replying to Taylor Swift's endorsement of Harris:

"Fine Taylor… you win… I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life," Musk wrote.

Musk made his post after Swift made a viral endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for president on her Instagram account. Swift signed her post, "Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady."

Man that guy is creepy as hell.

For a guy who has been able to use his wealth and managerial power to pressure employees into sexual relationships on a somewhat regular basis, Leon still gives off a whole lot of incel energy.
