No idea about the rights of using this, but it's almost certainly not able to be trademarked.

Real brain genius stuff to make a recognizable brand into something so generic it will probably make search engine optimization impossible, all while using a symbol that can't be registered as a trademark.

They should have called it "Decussate". In a strange coincidence, the Skeptic's Guide to the Universe podcast had that as their Word of the Week, and it was recorded days before the announcement. It means "something in the shape of an 'X'".

Looks like it was ripped off from here, Monotype's Special Alphabets 4

The X character looks like an exact match:

A Twitter account that focuses of fonts is discussing it, can't view the entire thread without logging in because Musk removed that functionality.

Edit: Elon posted the single monotype character 11hrs ago, so it's pretty obvious that he is at least aware that it's an existing font.
