Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe is reportedly fighting for his life in a Singapore hospital with his wife and close family by his bedside.
The 88-year-old dictator, who is believed to be suffering from prostate cancer, flew to Singapore late last month on what his aides described as a "private visit".
A senior member of Mugabe's Zanu PF party told The Zimbabwe Mail that Mr Mugabe was enjoying an Easter break with his family in Asia, and denied that he was seeking treatment for a medical condition.

However rumours are swirling that the ageing leader, now in power for three decades, is seeking treatment for prostate cancer following several bouts of therapy in Asia in recent years.
Mugabe was said to be close to death last night and was surrounded by close family, including his wife Grace, The Daily Mail reported.
It came as sources close to Mr Mugabe told The Daily Telegraph in London that Mugabe had reached a secret "gentleman's agreement" to hand over power in Zimbabwe to his feared defence minister, Emmerson Mnangagwa, a former spy chief nicknamed "The Crocodile" and known for his ruthless style.

Sounds like he has made plans to ensure Zimbabwe is still going to be going down the toilet. Hopefully he dies soon and something better will come out of this.

I'll reserve my opinion about the man's imminent(?) passing until I have viewed his landscape paintings.

I run a death pool on another board, there will be a fair few points to hand out if he karks it.

The death pool I run has a rule against any action intended to bring about the death of any person in the pool. :D

rumour denied

(I don't credit the denial, just passing it on fwiw)

Two senior officials from Mugabe's ZANU-PF party on Tuesday angrily denied reports by some international media that he was undergoing intensive treatment in a Singapore hospital and was fighting for his life.

The officials said he was on a private holiday to Singapore.

"The president is well and away on a private holiday to help his daughter prepare for post-graduate studies, but we are expecting him home this week," said one of the two officials, who declined to be named.

"But some sick and malicious people are spreading false stories about him being seriously ill while others are saying he is dead or dying out there," he added.

If just spreading the story is "sick and malicious", then I wonder what they'd say if I told them I would like to see Mugabe buried up to his neck in the dirt and beheaded with a bulldozer.

Let's speed up the process, Bob. Do the world a favor and don't live to see next week.

I'd welcome the retirement of Mugabe if I was confident of a smooth transition to a true democracy. I'm concerned that Emmerson Mnangagwa will assume Mugabe's role and there'll be a brutal period of oppression to cement his grip on power with predictable consequences for the Zimbabwe economy and ordinary Zimbabweans.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

What did the bulldozer do to deserve that?

Replace bulldozer with fireants and honey.
