Most of the legal commentators are saying that Mueller is very unlikelty to want Stone as a witness;Stone is such a massive and long term liar that no lawyer would want to put him on the stand.
Now Mueller might want Stone to spill some information but no way will Mueller put Stone on the stand, he is too much a well known BS artist for that. Stone makes Trump look like a rank amateur when it comes it lying and BS. And that is saying something....

I'm stuck on Stone's double V-for-Victory pose. I understand that Stone is a Nixon fan boy of the first order (in fact Trump has made me appreciate Nixon more myself:D) but if this was an attempt at a homage to the great tricky Dick it fails big time.

Whatever one's overall opinion of Nixon as a man or as a President his double V-gesture became a cringeworthy irony when he used it during his final departure from the White House. He had lost virtually everything. He was forced to leave government in disgrace after his illegal actions were documented. Many of his long-term defenders turned against him in justifiable disgust. He became a political liability and non-entity for most of the rest of his life.

The Double V is not a symbol of celebration of a rousing victory or even dogged resistance or internal innocence. It is a symbol tightly associated with well documented criminal guilt and immorality. How clueless Stone must be to think it is clever public relations to use it now.

Is he going for a not guilty by virtual of insanity defense? Or is this an example of a quote attributed to Stone that it is better to be infamous than never to be famous at all? Sad if one's major central satisfaction in life is just pissing off others, but Ive wondered if that is not true of some of our very own Forum members.

This is your friendly reminder that the only reason TBD is taking this line of argument is because that's what Donald Trump tweeted. He won't drop it, because to do so would be to acknowledge that Trump was just making stuff up.

If Donald Trump had instead tweeted that Mueller can't arrest Stone because Romulans have no jurisdiction in Federation space, then that's the argument we'd be having right now.

Or, and I know this crazy, concede the point. You don’t have to argue at all!

“Tbd, that is a good point, the optics on CNN “just” being there based on a gut instinct look bad. Stone clearly would have turned himself in. I hope that the AG investigates this because it puts everyone in danger.

I’d love to get your opinion on...”

But then we could not be entertained by canine “jokes.”

As to Stone's early morning arrest by a significant contingent of highly outfitted agents: boy that was great! My personal thank you to all involved - it made my day.

I will have wait to learn the specifics as to why it was played out this way, but I haven't observed many cases of law enforcement agents and organizations being motivated by possession of a strong liberal bias. I suspect there were good reasons relating to concerns as to destruction of evidence, possible flight or self-harm, etc. Whatever the basis I have zero sympathy for Stone in this regard; he has led his life as an immoral person who has felt no compulsion in hurting others through lies and manipulations. Perhaps the highest levels of philosophic ethics would demand that he were treated better than he has treated others, but I am willing to climb down from that pedestal just long enough to enjoy the karma of this morning.

Sure, let's progress with the reasonable discussion.

TBD, do you have anything other than speculation to bring to the table?

Well now that we salted away the CNN fiasco, I am happy to say, that although I disagree that I have brought speculation, I am going to take the high road and answer your question with a rousing yes.

I hope they do a strip and cavity search while they're at it and put him in a cell with Bubba. Pretty boy like Roger would make a nice bitch.

In the interests of fairness, in "The Trump Presidency 12" thread Stacyhs made an offhand remark similar to yours and was condemned for trivialising male rape. I don't think the poster(s) who took offense are in active in this thread, but just puttin it out there.

But again (and to counter the "Oh so it's a problem when it happens to rich white men..." comment) I've always found police responses excessive.

Again, I didn't say it made it right.

In this particular instance, in this particular thread, though - it's a diversion tactic. It's an intentional derailment of the conversation. Again. By the same poster. Again. In a hypocritical manner. Again.

So, I've skipped the last 5 pages because it was the usual 3-ring distraction circus. Did I actually miss any substance, or do I not need to bother?

No it is not (well except for the part where people falsely accused forum members of hypocrisy of course).

The subject discussed was a core part of the controversy today. The false claims of hypocrisy? Not at all.

Yet it happened again. Hmmm.

Ok, Buzz Feed’s Cohen fiasco immeasurably damaged the integrity of the process.
Would you estimate this damage as more or less impactful than Trump and Giuliani threatening Cohen's family? Back of napkin of course, what with the immeasurability.

So far as I've observed, on these various issues having to do with Trump's legal pickles, you have a perfect record. Maybe you can monetize this somehow.

 the CNN point has been conceded by you. Perhaps you will wish to review the above quoted posts?

See that you do.

I'm not suggesting he is raped. Just that he gets the full experience of prison. This guy is notorious for threatening people.
