Giuliani:
"When the president said [to Comey,] 'Please, go easy on Flynn,' I know of no obstruction case that begins with the word ‘please,'”

The doofus said not long ago that Trump never talked to Comey about Flynn. But I think Chuck Todd was wise not to call him on it (assuming he noticed).

It's hard for me to believe Crazy Eyes Giuliani can be this bad by accident.

I wonder if it is time to gently urge our Trump-supporting relatives to watch such clips. I have a brother who is on the bubble about leaving the Republican Party - a big concession for him - but I wouldn't bother with my nephew.

I also wonder if the narration could be ditched entirely if such clips are used for advertising. No voice-over, just dates and some enigmatic tagline. IMO it would make it harder to reject as "fake news."

Without at least some shift in popular opinion, the Mueller report is in danger of being dismissed as purely partisan. I think GOP senators know better but they will act the way constituents want them to act.

The compilation of the changing story Time put together is much more effective than hearing the number of his lies which people ignore or are numb to.

If it is from the Washington Post their "fake news" filter will block it.

Another problem I have with that quote: "That includes an astonishing 6,000-plus such claims in the president’s second year."

Show don't tell: If it's that astonishing, people don't need to be told how astonishing it is. It's legitimate to point out that this is a big increase from his first year, but there's no need to puff it up - just give the raw numbers, and don't try to get fancy by "putting it another way." Don't use the phrase 6,000-plus - why not just use the exact number? It actually saves characters. If you point out that 16.5 is nearly triple 5.9, you risk making readers feel dumb because they don't know how to multiply decimals.

I know this sounds crazy, but IMO it is more persuasive to keep the message very, very simple, even in an editorial. That said, WaPo obviously knows its audience better than I do.

How do you think it would play without Time's narration? I agree that many people ignore numbers. They'll just say, "All politicians lie."

Time is absolutely correct in its journalistic approach. I'm talking advertising: How do you maximize impact with people resistant to the message?

I helped start a derail ... sorry. :o

Indeed. FAKE NEWS might be a counter to the list of lies, but that doesn't protect him against the times he contradicts himself.

The narration with pictures is going to be better for people that could read about Trump but don't.

Play it for them while you listen in so you know they actually listened. :)

Just got a new statement from Giuliani regarding Trump Tower Moscow timeline - unclear though is exactly when Pres Trump & Cohen & others last spoke about this —

Giuliani tells NYer he's "been through all the tapes" and that's how he knew BuzzFeed misreported. Pressed on what he means by tapes, Giuliani: "I shouldn’t have said tapes." Pressed again, says, "I have listened to tapes, but none of them concern this."

I wonder how much Trump pays him?

I wonder how much Trump pays him?

almost certainly not a dime - it's the only explanation why Trump keeps him around.

Giuliani makes his money from being hired by strongmen all over the world to tell them and their posse that being ruthless is the way to get things done (zero-tolerance etc.).
Because he can put "lawyer of the President" on his business card, he can charge them way more.

Trump is certainly getting less from Giuliani than vice versa.

Deripaska keeps his shares in Rusal with the lifting of US sanctions, despite claims to congress it would reduce his shares

Because two more Republican senators wouldn't cross over and vote to stop the lifting of those sanctions on Oleg Deripaska, the Trump administration is about to gift him hundreds of millions of dollars.

Meanwhile, remember Nastya Ribka?

A woman who says she has evidence of Trump-Russia collusion was just forcibly detained by agents in Moscow

Citing leaked phone recordings, @navalny claims that #Deripaska organized the jailing of Nastya Rybka, the Belarusian escort who published photos and audio of Deripaska discussing the U.S. election on a yacht with a top Kremlin official, Sergei Prikhodko.

Rudy Giuliani inadvertently reveals the existence of taped evidence during his latest interview meltdown

“But I can tell you, from the moment I read the story, I knew the story was false,” he added.

“Because I have been through all the tapes, I have been through all the texts, I have been through all the emails, and I knew none existed,” Giuliani said.

“Wait, what tapes have you gone through?” The New Yorker asked.

“I shouldn’t have said tapes,” Giuliani answered.

At this point it really appears that we need to change one of the long-time assertions,...

What has Putin Giuliani got on Trump to keep him in line that keeps Rudy employed?

Something from his years as mayor? Possible a DA investigation of Vinnie the Chin and Donnie's other mobbed up dealings? Didn't Giuliani head up the prosecution that jailed the heads (on paper - it turns out that Fat Tony wasn't really a mob boss, he merely played one in the courts) of the Five Families. As the top prosecutor in the SDNY, he saw an awful of papers.

Isn't it disturbing that a duplicitous man who is clearly very bad at it has come this far on the back of his own lies?

It's only at the point that the presidency of the USA is at stake that it comes to light.

Rachel had this story in her show, going quite in depth into it. It's jaw dropping to say the least, and this young woman's life could easily be in danger for what she knows. The good ole US stands aside and watches though, it's Government now a lap dog for Putin and his buddies.
