MSNBC's On Screen State of The Union Countdown Clock.

Are you kidding? The media was asking Press Secretary Gibbs when the SOTU would be and all he could say was that it wouldn't pre-empt the "Lost" episode on February 2, 2010. When it became painfully apparent to POTUS Obama, the head of the Democratic Party, that the health care bill was not going to be passed this month or next, there was no longer any reason for any delay.

Evidence that President Obama was going to delay the speech?

Or is this just a pointless 'Libs are stupid. The Media is Liberal, therefore, the Media is stupid' thread?

"The White House announced Monday afternoon that the president would speak to a joint session of Congress next Wednesday at 9 p.m.

In the televised speech to the nation, Mr. Obama will outline his priorities for the coming year as well as recount what he believes are the achievements from his first year in office. Speech writers have been working on the address for weeks, but the date had not been set, pending the outcome of the health insurance legislation in Congress.

But the White House decided against waiting beyond January for the State of the Union address, which Mr. Obama will use to set the tone for the coming year."

No, it is intensely boring.

http://www.africamuseum.be/

Perhaps embarrassing to Belgians, but hardly boring.

"This initial presentation says a lot about the moral mindset of the museum as it dictates the tone for nearly everything else seen within. Nowhere within the 20 exhibition halls of the museum's vast, Beaux Arts edifice is there even the slightest hint of the millions of Congolese natives who died (some say as many as TEN million) in the brutal, slave-driven colonial empire Belgium ruled in Central Africa for seventy-five years. The museum is an ageing anachronism, an outrage to Europeans of African decent, and an embarrassment even to modern Belgians. The museum has come to be an acute symbol of the failure of the Belgian people to come to grips with the horrifying details of their country's colonial domination of black Africa."

Very Good! Now.. Do you Hate President Obama for deciding to NOT postpone the speech after all? Or that he was thinking about postponing it in the first place?

Hey, at least it won't pre-empt Lost, like they said it wouldn't.

So, until now, you were clueless about the reason for why the SOTU date had not been set by the Obama Administration? I have no hatred for POTUS Obama. Why would I hate him for wanting to be able to at least check-off one campaign promise when he gave his first SOTU? Now he can talk about how he saved America from a fate worse than death by not pre-empting some dopey show.

Make sure you have all your guns loaded. I heard the libruls want to take them away!

Seems your hearing is more acute than your spelling of your ideology.

"State Appellate Panel Strikes Down SF Handgun Ban "

"San Francisco's controversial handgun ban, approved by city voters in 2005, suffered another legal setback Wednesday when it was overturned by a state appeals court panel that ruled it conflicted with state law."

MSNBC had a Suds Summit countdown clock, so why not a SOTU clock?

"All the cable news network's have been talking about this upcoming “Beer Summit” taking place at the White House tonight (6pmET! “Red, Light and Blue”!). But only one network took it to the next level – countdown clock."

Since the SOTU will be on every network local and national channel and news cable channel, what exactly is the purpose of this? Does MSNBC think of themselves as Cape Canaveral?

My first thought was "who cares". My second thought was "people actually watch MSNBC?"

Maybe we can get a countdown clock going until Cicero's next pointless thread showcasing his hatred of all things Obama.

My first thought was "who cares". My second thought was "people actually watch MSNBC?"

That leaves the only possibility for the purpose of the countdown which is to remind the MSNBC folks i.e., Mitchell, Matthews, Maddow, Olbermann, when to begin genuflecting towards their monitors.

Cicero, help me out here. I'm left-of-center, so by definition I'm a little slow.

But what the hell is this thread about?!

No argument with your self-appraisal. Since you are the target audience for MSNBC, can you explain why they feel the need for countdown clocks to usher in POTUS Obama Suds Summit or the SOTU?

Criticism of MSNBC = hatred of POTUS Obama? Is this the new liberal math?

Frankly, this is your fault, Cicero. You have spent most of your time in the forum carving out a conservative "down with democrats" niche. When you criticize MSNBC, people are going to assume you are criticizing liberalism because that's just what you do. In fact that's pretty much ALL you do here. Don't blame them for your reputation.

Cause its more for them than us, whenever Obama makes a speech its a real liberal freakfest over there.

Internally, its a party-countdown. When it hits zero the effete liberals will show off their dance moves and scream and shout in hedonist ecstasy, as lefties are wont to do whenever the sight of Dear Leader graces the screen.
