Movie "Non-Stop" makes right wingers' heads explode {SPOILERS!}

“Here’s the thing: Even in New York City that got groans,” Glenn said. “Because you’re going through the whole movie, and it’s a good movie… [but] it’s not worth seeing once you know that they made the terrorist ex-military for the U.S… When it’s revealed, the audience in New York City went, ‘Oh, gee.’”

Obviously he has never seen Skyjacked or The Rock or the first Under Siege or Falling Down or...

... Or the Oklahoma City Bombing...

It's pretty typical of Hollywood that they would come up with a terrorist that is ex-military, instead of, oh, I don't know, something politically incorrect. The movie is getting pretty mediocre (53% fresh) ratings at Rotten Tomatoes.

Is it still called terrorism if the only goal is money?

I Disagree. One of the defining aspects of terrorism is an underlying social-political goal. Bank robbers may "terrorize" their victims, but they're not terrorists.

Anyway, I hadn't even heard of this movie, but there are plenty of flicks Glenn Beck can jack-off to where the terrorist is a foreigner. Go watch Executive Decision (bonus: Steven Seagal dies before the mid-point ***spoiler alert***.)

Uh, this is one area Hollywood has it right. If a bomb blew up in my town the first suspects I'd look at would be ex-military.

They have the training and they are usually damaged emotionally and mentally. That's why so many of them join up with radical movements who make "terrorism" a not particularly well hidden goal.

I have no interest in seeing another mediocre LIam Neeson thriller (shame he gave up being a superb actor for this string of blah action movies) but I would need someone much less nutty then Beck to accept that the film is anti military.
Though I note that on the left the basic hostility toward the militray that has always been there is coming back.

Well, the premise gets the "oh, gee" treatment from me precisely because I have seen all those movies. It's like Hollywood goes through these phases where they cannot conceive of a terrorist action that isn't blue on blue.

Also, I notice that all your examples are pre-9/11. I think maybe a non-troofer New York audience might have something else in mind when it comes to terrorist hijackings than Under Siege.

Me? I'll watch it, if it's an even mediocre action flick, because that's how I am. But yeah. Yet another blue-on-blue story? And it's a hijack story? Come on!

What bought this on? I was merely commenting on the fact that there have been movies made forever where the American Military have been portrayed as the bad guys, but that Beck was apparently ignorant of some, or many examples of this practice. And he specifically chose this one to vent his spleen, for something which has been happening for many, many years.

Why now, and not 20 years ago? And I really need to know what 9/11 has to do with anything I posted?

Beck is a ass. I take it as axiomatic that when and why he vents his spleen is always wrong.

My point was that it's not apparent that Beck is ignorant of the genre; it's precisely my extensive knowledge of the genre that prompts the same reaction in me as he describes in that New York audience.

I can only imagine how much more annoying it would be for someone who lived through the events of 9/11, going to a theater to see a terrorist hijacking movie made in the past ten years, and discover at the end that the villain was us all along. Oh, gee, indeed.

Where is Beck's rant about "The Lego Movie"? In this film the evil villian Lord Business uses Bad Cop to do to his dirty work. Clearly this film is a leftist attack upon capitalism and the rule of law.
And who is the voice of Bad Cop you ask?

Liam Neeson

Well it's not Beck, but Fox News once again proves what reliable troopers they are.

Your welcome :D

I was going to make a joke about the demonizing of the responsible banker Mr. Potter from "It's a Wonderful Life," ...right up to the point when the blond mentioned him.
I guess it is impossible to make a parody of Fox News or their anchors, current or not.
