Mothership over the Mother City

Very unusual cloud formation over Table Mountain this morning.

Any meteorologists here that can explain these formations?

I concur, lenticular clouds.

Notice how they form over the ridge of a sharp mountian which is why one never see such cloud formations over the ocean.

Actually, flying through them, the air is silky smooth. Below and behind, however...(see Foehn gap)
And The Mothership hovers over Roswell. Just look at a satellite picture of the weather-Roswell always has a "blue hole" over it, regardless of what is going on around it...

Actually, the cloud formation is caused by condensation at the edge of the cloaking field.

Either that, or it's the ship's camouflage, Cloud(TM) pattern.

It's sort of like when the Enterprise flies by the camera and you hear a whoosh. Any fool can tell you that there's no air in space, so there can't be any noise. It takes a special kind to explain about induced currents in the microphone from the ship's shield.

Yes - it's the little tiny rotor cloud in front - the only marker of that atmospheric washing machine that has towed sailplane pilots white knuckled and reading the "Prepare for inverted flight" sign on the dashboard.

Once through tho as mentioned it's silky smooth and a high performance sailplane can surf it far above the jet lanes.
