Penultimate Amazing
I've told it here before. Driving through North Park in Colorado around sunset, during my college years (mid '70's), I saw in the sky in front of me what appeared to be a metallic object, possibly a "flying saucer" viewed edge on. After a fairly short time, as the sun set lower and the amount of reflected sunlight coming off of it was reduced, I was able to see that it was actually a very short jet contrail (IOW, the "U" was removed from my UFO.). It had simply been reflecting enough sunlight to make it look metallic in the twilight at ground level.
It was, however, a revelation to me as to how easy it is to misinterpret what one is seeing. I became considerably more skeptical of eyewitness accounts. Contrary to rants from UFO's bigfooters, etc., one does not have to be either lying or crazy to be absolutely positive they are seeing something different that what they are really seeing.
