More evidences about Al Gore!

The article seems to be a hack piece, but it does claim that models predicted this would be "one of the 5 hottest summers" on record. Was this really predicted for this year?

I recall that "they", whoever the hell "they" are, predicted the year after Katrina would also be a very bad hurricane year, when it wasn't.

As skeptics, we're well aware of the "regression to the mean", which would apply even in severe global warming. Why don't these idiots who do these simulations know this?
You don't even know who "they" are, yet based on a vague recollection "they" are idiots. Priceless.

Damn those scientists who were motivated by profit in the 1970's when they concluded the Earth was cooling!

I really am hoping that you aren't actually trying to use the global cooling hypothesis from 35 years ago to challenge modern climate change theory...

Who are these people truly obsessed with AlGore?
The 'denialist' crowd who thinks AGW is a religion, same way Creationists think Evolution is a religion, so that the best way to attack it is to make personal attacks on its leader(s).

Saying that Christianity was nonsense because Jesus {insert fault or contradiction or whatever here}" might just work, because the only thing believers have to go on is pretty much what their Messiahs say. Charisma is everything to religions - if you expose a leader as a child abuser, ignoramus, or self-contradictory.

However, it does not work to say that Evolution is false because Darwin was a racist, so Evolution is a lie, or that AGW is false because Al Gore uses too much electricity.

Next question?

Those who say Bush 43 stole the 2000 election from him? Those who mistakenly beleive AlGore was awarded an Oscar?
I dunno, I never hear from Al Gore from AGW 'believers', so I can't tell. Maybe if they were obsessed enough to, you know, mention him now and then, maybe I'd know:D.

But no, every time I hear about him it's from the 'other guys'.

Those who ignore the fact that AlGore's lifestyle is at odds with his MMGM preaching?
Is it? He has a big house with a big energy need, but this stems from the fact that his house is also the workplace of quite a few people.

What the heck is "MMGM"? Please explain new idlas when you jun up with them, otherwise we other hikkas can't mish what you're mekking about, you hack?

What the MMGWers have in common with religious zealots is that both believe that the human race is headed for the day of reckoning. The only difference between these fanatics is their time table.
That tired old line again?

Doesn't matter. AGW is a trend, and such one year or five is unimportant.

Global cooling hits local spot. Yep, one town had cooler weather than average. Surely that refutes the overall total global temperature [trend].
Addendum added;).

For all we know, Jim Jones and David Koresh feared the MMGW day of judgement.

We were not speaking about AlGore's professional pigeon hole as MMGW cheerleader, but his personal lifestyle that is in conflict with his message.

A) Either he really doesn't believe in it, which makes him a snake oil salesman

OR

B) He actually does believe in it, but doesn't care about the consequences, which makes him an ignominious reprobate.

Could you offer your opinion based on your exclusive reading of "Science" periodicals which category AlGore falls into?

The models can't predict with such resolution. You are confusing the modeling for short term, with modeling for long term. Making predictions for the coming year is far less reliable.

I hope Al has a wonderful summer spending less on air conditioning and reducing his carbon footprint. I am more concerned with global drying, and in particular, in the region of Texas south of the I-10. The El Niño/La Niña phenomenon has apparently been a factor in the summer flow from northwest to southeast getting cut off at the pass, and not dumping the usual amounts of rain into an agricultural and ranching region.

Warm is one thing, warm and dry is quite another: some people call it a desert.

What horrible writing. Is the Telegraph a reputable paper or a rag?

Someone more knowledgeable then me may be along in a minute, but until then I'll answer this. The answer to the above question is yes to both, it was and to some extent still is an up market, albeit right leaning and traditionalist newspaper, however it has also often provided a platform for some left field (not left wing) viewpoints, particularly through its resident wack job Christopher_Booker

Wikipedia said:
Via his long-running column in the UK's Sunday Telegraph, Booker has claimed that man-made global warming was "disproved" in 2008, that white asbestos is "chemically identical to talcum powder" and poses a "non-existent risk" to human health, that "scientific evidence to support [the] belief that inhaling other people's smoke causes cancer simply does not exist" and that there is "no proof that BSE causes CJD in humans". He has also defended the theory of Intelligent Design, maintaining that Darwinians "rest their case on nothing more than blind faith and unexamined a priori assumptions"

What is AGW? Al Gore Warming?
In the unlikely event that you're serious, Anthropogenic Global Warming, and its sibling GW, or Global Warming, are the terms used by 99% of people who discuss global warming.

For all we know, Jim Jones and David Koresh feared the MMGW day of judgement.
Possibly. Relevance?

We were not speaking about AlGore's professional pigeon hole as MMGW cheerleader, but his personal lifestyle that is in conflict with his message.
You did, and I answered.

Your answer:

sounds as if it were an AlGore publicist press release. You left out his flying around the country in a corporate jet.

"The filings, which are publicly accessible, they reveal that during the period of January of 1999 and January of 2000, Gore reimbursed five groups and corporations for 16 flights on private jets. It is two of these dates that caught our attention.

On January 27th, 2000, Gore campaign in Concord and Manchester, New Hampshire, and on that very same day reimbursed the Thomas Lee Company $1,400 for the use of their corporate jet. That evening he left New Hampshire and flew back to Washington aboard Air Force Two, the vice president's official plane is a 757, which means that the flight from New Hampshire to Washington, well, the vice president emitted more than 22,000 pounds of CO2."

So, again I ask you to chose A or B.

A) Either he really doesn't believe in it, which makes him a snake oil salesman

OR

B) He actually does believe in it, but doesn't care about the consequences, which makes him an ignominious reprobate.

OR

C) He believes that his travel footprint is more than offset by the political gains made to get more people involved in efforts to reduce AGW

AND

D) He believes that his travel footprint is more than offset by the actual reductions in CO2 emissions by getting industrial, governmental and other groups to modify their practices.

Now before you argue those specific points, Cicero, I am NOT making the above claims. I am simply providing an example to demonstrate the world does not exist in simplistic black/white terms that you seem to be so beloved of.

Consequences for ones actions is very much the world I live in, but apparently not the one AlGore lives in. Do as I say, not as I do has never been a persuasive tactic. Just ask any children of hypocritical parents for confirmation.

Can you tell me what the impact factors of Newsweek and Time are?

They are respected, peer reviewed, scientific journals, right?

They are periodicals that a large number of different types of people actually read. Does that mean they have substantially more impact than scientific journals?
