Moe's Superhot TAM5 Blog.

And here I thought you were saying "Wooo!!!" kind of like my own personal cheering section! ;)

Woooo!!!

Ha! I like it.

I'm really good at rocking the occasional faux pas. ("Why do you hate her?!" comes to mind for this year) Last year I embarassed myself to death in front of Ed Lu. Ed Lu who I'd been DYING to meet. I talked with him on the phone from space when I was at the JREF and I was in awe of him. I was SO super excited to meet him, and of course, I faux'd it up.

I think I was walking around with Slick in that Oscar-style glow you get about a big event. It was the reception and it's overwhelming and wonderful to see everyone you haven't seen in a year, and all at once to boot. So we were walking around saying hello to everyone and we ended up in a cirlce of people already in a discussion. And I was just so excited with everything, and at the break in conversation I burst out and said, "I can't wait to meet Ed Lu! Is he here yet?" And there was this awkward silence/ nervous laughter and I shut up and got over it, to slowly realize that Ed Lu was IN THE GROUP OF PEOPLE STANDING IN FRONT OF ME. I was so embarassed that I never ended up talking to him at all. And I still would love to meet him!

Sometimes I faux up.

Wooo!

Who made those Pigasus chocolates?

They should be for sale at TAM6. I can sell a lot of them, and the rest (if any) can be eaten at the party.

That was me! Well, I had the custom molds made, and my wife did the actual chocolate work... she's quite good at that stuff, actually takes the time and effort to properly temper the chocolate so it gets that nice shine to it.

We could probably be talked into doing another run of them prior to TAM6. But if there was the need for a *large* batch, we'd probably have to rope in some other Seattle people to help out.

Gee, Moe, I thought you'd dyed your hair pink and you were now selling insurance over the Internet.

Seriously, I enjoyed the photos, and wish I'd been there.

Not one picture of moi... was I even there, LOL!.

Nice that my chocolate covered strawberries got pictured, evidence that I was there. ha!

Moe,

Great job! You brought bak so many cool memories of the little moments that really make TAM fun. Thank you!

Ok, sorry for hijacking the thread, but I don't think it deserves a new one.

Here's my small flickr TAM5 gallery, with some pics of Saganite, Patricio Elicer, Central Scrutinizer, Stimpson J. Cat, Kylie Sturgess, and others.

ETA: Sorry, but didn't do any post-processing with the photos, so they may have weird white-balance, or uncropped...

Thanks for posting those everyone. Very enjoyable vicarious experience!

Sorry to be a pedantic but cos I'm a South Park fan I had to point out that you've got the guys names wrong in your captions of their photos. Where you've said 'Matt Stone' it is in fact Trey Parker (Trey has very short/shaved hair) and where you've said 'Trey Parker' it's Matt Stone (Matt is the one in the grey t-shirt with 'Black Hockey' written on it).

I heard mixed reports about their appearance at TAM5 - some thought they weren't so good.

Kittenindublin, I'm not really a southpark fan (there, I said it! I admit it! Gotta problem with that??!!) but I thought they were great!

Thing is, they're cartoonists, not public speakers, so there was no real presentation or anything. I thought it was really interesting how they talked about their creative processes. I didn't think they took themselves too seriously or anything.

They came across as just some guys who did cartoons for a living, and were amazed that what they did had become so popular.

Uggghhh, thanks for the correction. I even got Penn & Teller's names screwed up. I'm name-dyslexic, I guess.

Glad Youliked the photos.

I thought they were great, but I mean it in a totally subjective way.

I loved their response to Dr. Buzz0 (was it him?)

Here I've been going over mental memories of TAM for the past month, trying not to forget all the little tiny details--and MoeFaux just chronicled the entire thing exactly the way I would have. No need to wrack my brain.

Jerry Andrus's spinny-thing? Check. The "Boys are stupid" tee shirt? Check. The psychedelic menu at Kady's? Hal-as-Hamilton, the Peppermill, the Bulletin Board of shame? Check, check, check.

Next time, I hope to actually meet MoeFaux herself instead of just hearing guys mention her in a sort of dreamy, hazy tone of voice.

The ????? in this photo - http://www.flickr.com/photos/54613395@N00/404075153/ - is Athon.

You got the back of my head in two photos, sitting to Patricio's left.
